Funky Dunky Posted June 4, 2016 Share Posted June 4, 2016 I've tried to do what Bobby does, and it sounds cool, but absolutely nowhere near as cool as Bobby's playing. He's amazing. Just a monster, monster, monster player. Cody Wright has a similar thing going, and he's fab, but Bobby is the daddy of pickstyle grooves. I've had the good fortune to see live Jaco, Marcus, Stanley, Victor, Squire, King, Entwistle, Garrison, League, Manring but had never listened to Bobby Vega til I played this. WOW! What a player, what tone, what a groove! Love the Zep riffs. If anyone loves bass & hasn't seen this then please watch it. Playing with a plectrum feels natural to me & it's good to know that BV was doing it before my main 80's influences. BTW V-Picks rule! ivansc Posted August 4, 2016 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Funny - I finally bowed to peer pressure in 1983 and started using my fingers instead of a pick. Happily, I can still use a pick pretty well although not in the same league as Mr V. And as always so much of the technique revolves around two handed muting.
