Big fan too, that track in particular! I heard an interview with Joe Dart where he said they bass used in that vid is just a cheapo no-name bass with TI flats fitted. It sounded so damn funky it made me GAS for Stingrays that I had previously disregarded thinking they were only good for that bright cutting agressive twangy sound. I picked up a Sandberg Basic from here that has the MM pickup just slightly further north of the Stingray position, and with the mids boosted to give it some honk, it sounds pretty close - now whenever I'm bored I find myself picking up this bass and playing this track! (poorly, I need to learn it properly!)

Idunno, but this might be one of several reasons:

But yeah, likeable band indeed!

Nicely played but made me think I was on hold whilst stood in a lift.

I'm coming to Manchester to hang around in some lifts.

Enjoyed it. Cool band.
dlloyd, if you're into this, give The Lydian Collective a listen. I think you'll enjoy

I must admit I'd hang around in lifts too if the music was played this well.

Deranged derailment, but I was once in a lift that kept me inside longishly because of its music. This was in days yonder, and they hadn't invited Vulfpeck yet, but Yes and ELP were no slouches either.
Someone must've received the wrong cassette, the point being that these were not you everyday C90 Music Cassettes, but physically large cassettes -prepared by a B2B firm - that played in special machines, typically in shopping centres, large work places and lifts.
