Jono Bolton Posted August 8, 2008 Share Posted August 8, 2008 I'm looking for a good quality replacement bridge for a Fender Jazz that ISN'T a Badass or a Gotoh 201. It's a Mexican Jazz Bass, so the screws are 5 in a row. I've currently got a Badass II on it, but it's an ugly f***er, and I've had a Gotoh 201 on it too, but I didn't like it very much, I found it didn't sustain well. The Badass does the job very, very well, but I'd prefer something more traditional looking, the Badass doesn't fit in with the aesthetic IMO. Any suggestions? Fender seem to sell all the rest of the components of their basses apart from the neck and body! BassBunny Posted August 10, 2008 Share Posted August 10, 2008 (edited) I have just built up a homage to a 62 P Bass and managed to experiment with a few bridges. The one that worked best IMHO was a Wilkinson Vintage Bridge. Same 5 screw fixing and is heavier, (more sustain), than the stock Fender one. Has Brass Saddles so looks the business as well. Jono Bolton Posted August 11, 2008 Author Share Posted August 11, 2008 I spied those Bassbunny, I was tempted but as they're aren't as chunky as the likes of the Gotoh and the Badass I wasn't sure if the sustain would be any good, even with the brass saddles. I got mine from twin--cam in black.
