Cameronj279 Posted May 28, 2014 Share Posted May 28, 2014 (edited) To cut a long story short I very very briefly owned an ACG bass over the last fortnight and everything about it just felt and sounded perfect so I was considering getting a custom build done So made a trip to Moffat on Monday and played a few of the stock basses (including the ART Recurve which is quite simply perfect) and got an idea of his Filter preamps and different body shapes. Into the workshop and was barraged by masses of different woods. So the specs are now chosen and deposit is paid. Excitement has kicked in and the waiting now begins! Specs are : Recurve 5 34" Redwood Burl top, Black Limba body core, Purpleheart accent 5 Piece neck - Wenge/maple/purplehear/maple/Wenge Spalted Maple fretboard ACG DFM 4k preamp 2x Multi Coil 5 pickups Will be a while but I shall update this as the process goes along as I found other peoples build threads helpful/interesting For now, have this Edited April 9, 2015 by Cameronj279 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm a big fan of Alan's work, currently having a 5 string made too, no build thread yet as the top is still on its way over from America... That is going to be a lovely bass. skelf Posted January 18, 2015 Share Posted January 18, 2015 No I have amboyna burl which looks great. I have a stack of them arriving this week including more ART tops and finger boards. Eude [/quote] Only used them very briefly when I specced the bass in May but was blown away by them (even with my extremely limited ability to use the DFM preamp!).
