2013 Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI

So someone over at the offset guitars forum has posted details of these, apparently due to be launched later this year. Street price of $349 So I'd imagine they'd be around the £300 mark over here.

If they're as good as the recent VM models these could be great value considering the only other way of getting a traditional spec Bass VI is the MIJ models that seem to be around £1300 at the moment.

Here's the thread for anyone interested:

I fancy a Porn (sic) Shop VI with the matching hs but for £300 a white VM might be very tempting.

They do love to mix things up at Fender don't they?

This Squier has the 4 switches and similar PUs to the original Bass Vi but no Tremiolo lock.

The Pawn Shop has the 5-way Strat type switching, an odd choice of PUs but it does have a Tremoio lock plus the Candy Apple Red PS is the only one out of all them that has a matching H/S.

I wonder what gauge strings Fender will use on the Squier? Going by their recent form, probably nothing like what we expect.

P.S. On saying all of that the Squier Bass VI is great news and looks like a bargain to me.

Ooh, lucky I didn't just buy the Pawn shop version - I reckon the Squier will be even better value. Now I just need to find an excuse for needing "yet another guitar".

Lucky?

How can missing out on owning the most fun bass of the year (PS Bass VI) be lucky?

P.S. Don't forget that the PS also has the magic word 'Fender' on the headstock. :D

Even though I bought a PS VI, I'll still be getting one of these. I'll use one as a baritone and one as a bass, with different string gauges.

Yes, same here. You can never have too many Bass VIs. :D

Good but the cabronita telecaster with lic. Bigsby and the range of new colours in the 70s and 77 VM Jazz basses trump these IMO.

Do these exist or is it a 'it'd be better if they did this...' Type post?

If they exist - do you have a link?

They exist. We got the details through from our Fender rep at work the other day.

Here's the squier vm cabronita with bigsby - http://www.rockpalace.com/fr/produit/Squier-Vintage-Modified-Cabronita-Telecaster-With-Bigsby-Black

From memory, the 70s VM jazz now comes in; Olympic white/Red/Natural (natural is previous model) with maple fingerboard & black block inlays/binding and the '77 jazz comes in natural/sunburst/black (black is previous model) with maple fingerboard & pearloid block inlays/binding.

Ill try and find links for those now :)
