Bass Shops in Kent

Hi all. I recently moved to Maidstone from Ireland with my job.

I haven't touched a bass since April 25th and need to do something before I go mad.

I should get my basses next Friday, but in the meantime could anybody tell me where I'd find some good bass-related shops now and for future reference?

Cheers!

I was passing through Tonbridge the other day (which looks about 10 miles from you, maybe less) and there is a shop there called American Guitars. Its got quite a few nice basses in there and the shop is run by a very nice chap who I chatted with for ages.

edit - just to point out they have loads on their website, but only a selection of these on display in the shop.

They were the people that my Cort came from (via the Bay). Very approachable on the phone and corrected the lack of gig bag being initially sent with no complaint whatsoever.

There's a guitar shop in Southborough - on the main road as you head north out of Tunbridge Wells, not been in there though, just driven past it a few times.

In Southborough??

Do you mean JBs Music on St Johns? It's a bit crap for bass stuff. Clueless idiots too: They once told me there's no such thing as stainless steel strings. I'd go to Abbey Music round the corner instead. Not too much bass stock (Lower end Ibanez, Squier, MIM Fender) but they are much more friendly than JBs (and stock Rotosound SS and Elites SS).

AGC in Tonbridge is the other end of the scale. Some seriously nice kit there whenever I go in. £15k for an Alembic anyone?

For decent stock and a wide range of basses I take a trip to Brighton for GAK, my guitarist favours Andertons in Guildford. Bth are about an hours drive from Tonbridge / Tun Wells.

I probably do, I've only driven past it, abduction now I think more about it, it's probably not as fat north as Southborough :-)

Hi

Theres a guitar shop in maidstone town centre called "music matters".
[/quote]

There is but they don't have a anything great are crazy overpriced and don't stock 5 string sets let alone stainless or flats.

ESE is good for guitars not so sure about bass but you have to catch them in a good mood and haggle like hell.
