This should cause a stir

I have one bass, it was expensive (for me), so If I start playing in pubs etc I want a cheapy that I can gig with and leave the other for the special gigs.

Though recently I did need my backup head, as my normal one failed (It was the power supplies fault and nothing to do with amp) But I was very happy that I bought one mere weeks before!

I have 4 basses, but I only ever take 1 with me to a gig.
Never had the need, or reason to take a "backup". I always do a pre gig check, put new batteries in etc, but have never been let down by my G & L Asat. I would have thought you have even less to worry about with a passive bass (no battery problems).
In fact the only "backup" I do take is strings, lead, battery plus a Leather-man .
I have (this could be the wrong thing to say) never had a problem, not even a string break in 35yrs. I am very heavy handed. Due to this, and I like the sound, I use La Bella 110 flats. Don't know if that's why I haven't broken any.

Ta very glad BIGd

You know what, I think I might just shift the 5. It deserves to be loved and played, and it's not getting played by me.

It'll be in the classifieds once I get the scratch plate back (a trendy metal one's being CNC'd, I know a guy :-P)

So if anyone's considering a 5 or has been after an OLP 5 string in sparkly blue, matching head, maple board, give me a shout and I'll PM when it goes up.

Only the P has been modded (can be found in the white and P porn threads and I believe there's one in the build diarys bit with a list of the mods), the OLP doesn't have any except a new scratch plate which I'm still waiting on. When it arrives, the whole thing will get a polish and some photos for the classifieds. Though, if you like I could try and post some now anyways. As a little teaser.

the question you need to ask, is if you sell one, would you use the money for something sensible, or would end up being spent on nothing in particular.

if its going towards something, and you only need one bass then get rid of one, if you are just going to waste the money then why bother?

ive had up to 5 basses at a time. im down to 3 now, 1 main gigging bass, one as a back up, and one i use mainly for recording
