BASainty Posted October 31, 2012 Share Posted October 31, 2012 I'm looking to expand into playing Acoustic guitar as I think it will help me with song writing and also when I need to play unplugged gigs I don't have to get drowned out with my AB lol. File under 'variable' (some are great, some not so): Ozark. You'd be able to score one of those for less than a hundred quid (or, should it take your fancy, I've got an Aria electro-acoustic I'd be willing to let go for forty quid if you could pick it up from South Birmingham)... Actually that's true of most acoustic guitars, but you already knew that, right? If you're over near J10 of the M40 then I have a bowlback acoustic you can have for £20 - plays OK, and I've used it playing out. Ancient Mariner Posted November 1, 2012 Share Posted November 1, 2012 The back of a BB is (usually, though not always - anyone remember Hiscox?) a curved resin bowl, rather than the classic tea-chest style. Advantages are that the guitar is lighter and often projects better than the box type, but tends to be a bit middly-nasal. Matt P Posted November 1, 2012 Share Posted November 1, 2012 secondhand would be my reccomendation, yamaha or aria, if you can find one with a solid top then even better, mind you i just picked up an ariana (budget Aria) from the 70's (i think) and it's all plywood but sounds amazing! the previous owner bought it in a junk shop. i'd be searching the secondhand stores and the like. butthe deal that Ian is offering would be my first choice, especially with the hard case for an extra 15 quid! (a bit of gaffa tape and should make it useable enough) get some new strings for it and you're still under budget! (i'm a huge fan of Newtone heritage 12's, the finest strings i've tried and i've tried plenty over the years from most of the big and not so big names) Matt Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
