I'm looking to get a wireless unit but haven't a scooby doo which one to get! :) Can anyone recommend a good 'un?
Cheers!
Not tried it but Ashdown have just introduced the Freebass wireless sytem which retails for a reasonable looking £149. Here's the link

I've used one of these for several years now and have had no complaints: -

It sounds great and has an amazing reception range - you can literally go out of your house and get half way down the street before it starts to cut out.

Make sure you get the right transmitter though - there are two, one designed for side-on jack sockets (like a Warwick, for example) and one for Fender Strat style recessed jacks. I've got the former, which fits my Streamer great, though sadly, won't fit with my new Ibanez, so I'm back wired until I can get a transmitter that fits... :)

Could you not just get a small patch cable made up with a plug on one end and a socket on t'other? Then fix the transmitter to yer strap or something...??

I use two AKG systems. One is a Guitar bug and the other a WMS400pro and both sound good and have gene reliable.

I just looked at the Ashdown one and quite fancied it until i read the spec sheet.
It needs two batteries in the transmitter and freq response only goes down to 50hz. I think thats the highest i have seen. Very strange considering its meant for bass.

That's something I've thought of... but I've no clue as to where to get a patch cable with a socket on one end - they only seem to come as plug to plug. Any ideas?

There's also a few more options on their site and some others on the RS Electronics site

A couple of minutes and a wee dab of solder and should all work fine.... :)

I use a Sennheiser 100 G1 system, It has never dropped out but does eat batteries every 4-6 hours.
It does not roll off the bass like some systems I've tried but does introduce a very small amount of noise that can only be heard during recordings. Works wonders for live use.

Hi I have a Samson Airline Bass that find quite useful. Not very expensive and designed for bass so it keeps the low end intakt. Not using it much so I might sell it if you are interested.

Another +1 for the AKG Guitar Bug - the transmitter has a hinged jack plug so it'll fit just about anything!

Sound Control were knocking them out for £99 a year or so ago, but I guess no longer :)

Got the Samson Airline Bass too... nothing to compare it with but it does what it says on the box so quite happy with it... Just make sure you keep track of the battery useage as it can be embarassing if it goes during a gig. I think it says they last quite a long time but I do no more that 2 gigs on one battery and then I put it in my "rehearsal only" box...

This happened to me once - my own dumb fault as I knew the battery was low, but neglected to change it. :)

I find that it's the transmitter battery (a meagre AAA) which is usually first to go.

Yeah... I use a power supply for my receiver base. Now wouldn't it be good if your amp had a 9V DC output to feed such things...? Do any manufacturers do that..?
dumb question maybe but.......here goes
how do use a wireless system if you got two or three pedals on the go

edit,
AREA,you're avatar rocks !!
I'd guess either get two wireless systems, or decide which you'd like stage-autonomy from most - your amp or your pedals. You could have bass-->wireless-->pedals-->cable>amp if you don't need to change efx every four seconds and like to walk about les claypool style, or you could go bass-->cable-->efx-->wireless-->amp if you want to be far away from your amp but need to change efx lots. I guess two wireless systems would be overkill - personally I just live with wired most of the time.
