Just found this great website today. They have fantastic prices on all brands, especially the likes of DR and La Bella which are so expensive over here, and they ship to the UK for $18.75 which is about £12.

Does anybody use them already? And would anyone be up for organising a joint order at some point to save on shipping? (not for me for a while though, I'm still working through my Chromes and Dean Markley freebies!)

I'd expect that you'd have to order enough strings to make the cost of shipping worth it, but not too many that you go over the customs and excise threshold.(which will probably make you cough up for VAT Annnnd the admin fee added by the courier. Usually around 8 quid. I'm guessing that would be one set of bass strings and thus, more likely to save money by going to the likes of Stringbusters or Strings Direct?

Lol, don't quote me on that, I'd not done the figures specifically, but just a hunch that might be the case. Sadly it usually is. I did score a disgusting large bag full of my fave plectrums from the US the other day for next to no money though, so sometimes a good deal is to be had!

I always just bought them from the US on Ebay, good price and £5 shipping. eg http://www.ebay.co.u...a2#ht_676wt_956

However, I had a look and saw these, anyone tried them? Or even heard of them? http://www.bassstringsonline.com/Everly-Strings-B-52s-Bass-Strings--4-String-Set_p_963.html

Thanks guys, that eBay seller looks really interesting! I'd never heard of Everly B-52s either, and the only Alloy 52 strings that I've tried are GHS Brite Flats so I guess that's not a full representation, they are nice strings though. Alloy 52 seems to be a big thing in America

I often buy from this site. Does not do DR's though.

Thanks for this link - I've been looking everywhere for somewhere that does Dean Markley Blue Steels that didn't involve ordering from the USA.

Messing around with the intonation on one of my Precisions yesterday, there was a 'ping' and the ball-end of the G shot one way while the rest of the string went the other.

That was a nearly-new LaBella FL too, and those strings are hen's teeth at the moment.

Just phoned Stringbusters on a long shot, and asked if they had a single LaBella FL in 'G' knocking about ... and the answer came back: "Yup".

Result. Credit where it's due, nice one Stringbusters.

I have to say that I assumed LaBella FL's would be easier to obtain in the US so when I was in New York last week I spent some time on 48th Street. Turns out they're as rare as hen's teeth in New York too ...

Re: Strings from the US - I got some Lakland flats recently - $30 (£19.21) inc.
Delivery in less than a week and no hidden tax or duty charges.

Very nice strings... not quite as smooth as La Bellas, but a very similar vibe. Bit more definition in the high-mids, I'd say. Thanks to WoT for recommending them to me!
