Press Release from Hartke

Hartke is pleased to announce the addition of legendary bassist Geezer Butler to its family of artists. Best known as the co-founder of the iconic band Black Sabbath, Butler has been a mainstay in the hard rock community for over 40 years. A prolific songwriter, Butler is credited with being the first bassist to experiment with alternate tunings, wrote most of Black Sabbath’s famous lyrics and was influential in creating the band’s now famous sound. He has also served as a major influence playing with Heaven and Hell, and his own project, GZR. Geezer joins a stable of Hartke players including Victor Wooten, Billy Sheehan, Jack Bruce (Cream), David Ellefson (Megadeth), Frank Bello (Anthrax) and Will Lee (Late Show with David Letterman) to name a few.

“It’s a true honour to welcome Geezer to the Hartke family,” states Director of Marketing for Hartke, Mark Menghi. “Not only is he a pioneer of the bass guitar, but his musical contributions have been instrumental in forming the foundation for what the hard rock and metal genres have become today.”

This past April, Butler was a surprise guest at the Metal Masters 3 clinic at West Hollywood’s Key Club. Playing through Hartke’s new Kilo Bass Amplifiers, he performed a finale rendition of the Black Sabbath fan-favorite “Hole In The Sky”.

Butler also featured his Hartke setup at the 2012 Download festival in the UK on June 10. Over 100,000 fans watched Butler and Black Sabbath close the world’s premier music festival.

That's a pretty good list of rock bass players to have on an endorsement list, and let's not forget Basschats very own Matt Cohen of The Reasoning.

I saw Anthrax a few weeks ago & Frank Bello was getting a GREAT sound from his Hartke rig.

Gareth, there seems to be a name missing from that legendary list!! *hint* ;o) LOL

I didn't think I needed to remind everybody that you are indeed part of the Hartke roster. However I forgot how shy and retiring you really are so should have mentioned it. My mistake should have put you first.

I'm happy that you spelt my mate Dave's surname wrong too ;o) he he he - Thank you though :) Kilo is still kicking out buckets of low end!
LOL I immediately spotted the typos in both your names, which means that you and Megadeth's Low End are on a par in my eyes. :)

Here's maself n' Junior having a bit of a chinwag. - I think I must have had my jaw wired that day, I sound ... odd! Maybe gritting my teeth trying not to blurt out 'i love you ' or something ha ha!! - I jest of course, it was very cool interviewing a bit of a bass hero and fellow Hartke endorsee.

Ol' Larry's building up quite the endorser list as of late, isn't he? :) I must admit, as a former user of the old Hartke gear, I wasn't a fan (sounded great, but I must have blown and replaced 6 aluminium 10" speakers over the years I had it) but I do like the more recent HyDrive stuff. They need to join the lightweight gang though... even Ampeg has now!

They used to have reliability issues but haven't seen anything over the last three years (since we took the brand on) that suggests that is still the case. As for future development........watch this space.

The HyDrive gear is all Neodymium and a huge weight saving on the XL range :) - I agree though, I think the LH1000 with a really good D Class 1KW power amp would be just awesome. Dead simple and masses of Hartke girth !

Crickey! I've had Alu cones for donkeys years at a time and only managed to blow one cone - and that was my own fault! Sounds like you've had a bit of bad luck!

I don't know why you retired the pro 4200 cab, sure, it weighed a ton and was the size of a 6x10 but it was one of the best sounding mid-priced cabs I've heard.

Back on topic though, congratulations on getting Geezer, that's a great endorsee
