[b]Trivia[/b] - it was played on one of those 60's Fender 6-string basses with the very light strings by George Harrison.
One of their best ever bass parts, too.

Ah yes, the Fender VI. And the bassline on 'Helter Skelter' was played by John Lennon on the very same instrument.

Didn't know it wasn't PM playing that, I always thought it sounded very macca-esque! especially those little fills that come in at the end of verse lines strike me as being quite trademark Macca, maybe George was deliberately trying to emulate his style? good line though. Not too difficcult, I think all the verse/chorus sections are all the same and, the bass over the solo is the same as a verse (off the top of my head, a while since I played it) and that leaves the 'ukraine girls' bit which is played at two different places in the song but IIRC is played the same way each time. As with most things better to start with a slowed down version and then work up to full speed, fair nips along at proper tempo!
Edit - now having actually looked at the wiki entry for it it is not as clear as suggested, with Macca, Harrison and Lennon all potentially contributing on bass on various takes some of which were mixed together for the fiinal version. As Macca is credited as writer presumably the basslines were pre written so other members would just play what they were told to, thus inevitably it soundslike a typical macca esque line!

I've got a performable version but it's mostly at the root-note level. Watched Macca play it live on YouTube and that seems to be how he plays it too.

Was mostly just for interest as there seems to be some fiddly playing in there but the bass isn't terribly clear.
