This 9 string Bass, created by Jim Fleeting as an exhibition piece, is simply stunning. It is a real musician’s bass and has an awesome sound and capability. It is regularly tuned in stacked fourths (F#/B/E/A/D/G/C/F/A#). This guitar is easy to play but needs an accomplished or progressing bassist. My friend is a lead guitarist and his "bass antics are confined to root notes and the odd fill!" BTW, the scale length is 89cm/35"and it's 82mm across the nut. Wow! The asking price is [b][u]£2,699 ovno (and that's another £300 price drop!)[/u], [/b][u][b]but he will consider a part exchange for a something tasty in the guitar or bass department, or amplification[/b].[/u] By all accounts, Jim Fleeting is fast becoming renowned for his work so it should prove to be a good investment. I have played it myself and, having never played on more than a 4 string bass, I was surprised that I was able to make headway so quickly. A video of me playing it is below. Seeing as that's not happened, my friend has decided that, if it's going to hang around, he would set the price at something more "realistic" for a one of a kind bass. As he's amended the gumtree entries to reflect the new price of £4,999, I thought I'd better change this ad as well, so I've amended the orignal post up top.
