Where can I try/buy Sandberg in the UK?

I chose the haussels as I didn't like the hifi edge the delanos give off and all the bumf on the haussel website about them sounding more vintage drew me in.

to me they do have more of a vintage/traditional vibe but they absolutely rawk. they are pure quality mate. your p pickup has the smaller pole pieces so you may get a more trad p sound out of it compared to the one I have as it has the larger poles and just screams :).

I'm always gonna buy haussels if I ever change or buy another bass

I've got one on order, Cali TT. Should be here in a couple of weeks. I'm really excited.

There shouldn't be any import duty as you will have paid VAT when you bought it (so long as the company is in EU), I'm pretty sure there is only duty to pay on stuff purchased outside of the EU.

Just recieved an email this morning from Session music that my bass has arrived and is ready to ship! :) Photo's as soon as its arrives.

Awesome! Can't wait to see :) . My bass arrived on Friday, however I'm yet to lay my hands on it - had it delivered to my parents because I couldn't guarantee I'd be in. As a result it's in Oxford and I'm in Exeter! Going to be recording with it next week so I'll take photos when I see it :) .

Okay it arrived yesterday

The photo doesn't really do it justice as it was taken on my phone but its looks amazing and sounds even better. Really glad I went for block inlays in the maple neck, they look great.

The build quality is really good and the components feel really good quality.

Basically I love it. Highly recommended for any Jazz bass fans.

Session musik are great to deal with too.

That looks lovely! Really like the blocks :) . Got my hands on mine yesterday and it is phenomenal. Nicest neck I've probably ever played on a 5 string - it's extremely fast and after a few hours of thumping around on it last night I genuinely think I play better because of it. Haven't got to put it through an amp yet or take pictures but feel wise it's top notch. Also feels really well built. Extremely happy! Can't recommend it enough! I'll get a photo up later.

I know I've said this already but, seriously, the neck on this thing is to die for.

Glad you guys are both enjoying your Sandbergs! That looks lovely Greg, gotta be about the best colour choice for a California T IMO.

Ash, that's exactly how I felt when I got my first Sandberg; the necks are so good that your playing seems to improve because there's nothing inhibiting your playing. I've said it before loads of times, but I ended up selling my old faithful Fender Jazz after I got my first 'Berg, because the Jazz just felt really awkward and cumbersome to play in comparison!

Any pics of yours Ash?

PrimeBass has just been converted to the ways of Sandberg too after buying my natural Basic 4; he's totally blown away with it!

Just need to decide what colour to order my new KT5 in now......... down to a choice of 3, but I am notoriously indecisive! Might have to start a poll.......

Thanks TRBboy. I took a bit of a risk with the marley blue as its not a colour I would normally go for and was hard to see what it would turn out like but when I opened up the case I was really really pleased. Its looks great and the maple neck and block inlays go really well too. I would have gone for the roquefort as that colour is cool too but you can only get that on an aged version which I decided against. I'm already considering selling my 76 Fender and placing an order for a hardcore aged version in Roquefort blue though!

That blue is amazing! That's the perfect blue, one of my bikes is that blue. I'd be inclined to get a maple scratch plate made for it, that would look the balls!!

Stunning purchase and welcome to the Sandberg club. Get some pictures on the Sandberg porn thread.

Cheers Dan, the blue really is an amazing colour, looks much better in the flesh than on the internet. The bass is really amazing to play and sounds really great.

I'll get some more pictures added to the sandberg thread ASAP.

They blow new Deluxe Fender Jazz basses out of the water and are about £400 cheaper if you buy them from Germany. I should know as I sold one about 3 months ago.

Just tried it at band practice. I ran it through both channels of my Mesa (with a sansamp GT2 on the high gain input) into my matamp 410.

:o

This is absolute tonal perfection. The haussel pickups are phenomenal, and the growl and sheer absolute bloody PRESENCE of this thing is ridiculous! I was playing fingerstyle and was cutting through like a knife! I'm so unbelievably knocked over by this bass. I genuinely cannot believe how good this sounds and feels. The ebony neck is like butter. I'm selling my other basses. Between my MTD and this I've got every gig covered.

I'm recording with it on Sunday, can't wait! I'll try and post isolations of the bass tracks :) .

Please do :) . I like polls!

And yep, this thing is just great. I'm selling on some of my basses because of this (need to hold off on one due to tour commitments). It's that good. The neck just feels right in my hands :) . After today's band practice words cannot say how happy a camper I am :D .

Definitely wouldn't mind! And thank you :) , I know they're not cheap basses by any stretch of the imagination but I really feel I'm getting a lot of bass for my money :) . How does yours sound? It looks amazing :) . Blue and maple is just a really lovely combination in my mind :) .

Alteady done dude! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/176753-help-me-choose-a-colour/

Yer bass looks awesome by the way! I had a blackburst Cali PM 4 last year and it was awesome, just didn't feel quite as good in my hands as a Basic. They are all incredible instruments, and when you think that you can order one to your spec for less than the price of a US Fender, it's a no brainer! I ended up selling everything else after I got my first one, I've been 100% Sandberg (main basses anyway) since November or December. I've had 4 in the last year! Now I've established which one works for me best, I'm aiming just to have two of those, and that's it!

Really couldn't imagine going back to Fender......

Sounds great, punchy, clean but really warm too. Has a great slap tone. I normally prefer passive given the option but this one sounds much better in active mode.
[/quote]

I think that's the thing, the Glockenklang preamps are so transparent and the frequency selection is spot on. They are very natural sounding, and with the tone controls centered there's no difference in tone or volume between active and passive.

Neither can I. My geddy will stay around for sentimental reasons, but Sandberg really seem to have improved upon every aspect of the fender design. Germans, eh? :D . And I understand what you're saying, once my tour is over I'm going to be moving down to my geddy, the sandberg and my MTD. Have no need for anything else :) . Also I've voted! Whenabouts you hoping to put the order in?

Never had a glockenlang preamp before this and I must say it is wonderful. Again, german engineering seems to be spot on!

Couldn't agree more and anyone who is thinking about buying a new Fender should consider a Sandberg instead. Even the Pots feel really solid and good quality.

Hoping to put the order in ASAP, but I don't know whether to order from Germany (cheapest) and hope that I sell my Greenburst Basic before I have to pay the balance, or pay a bit more and go through PMT who will take my Basic in part-ex (although they probably won't offer me much for it!). I need to decide which finish I want too of course!

Well... my issues with PMT have been well documented on here so I won't pass comment on them again! :P That basic is lovely though, sure you won't have any problems shifting it :) . Who you going through in Germany?

Oh really, i must have missed that! Can you link me to a thread? Might save me some hassle.....

The Basic should sell because it's a great bass, but I might have a problem if it hasn't sold in time to pay the balance!

I've been talking to Session Music, and they've been really helpful.
