Never heard of Roscoe Beck, sounds like some character out of Dukes of Hazzard?.

The bass however looks very fine. Congrats are in order Sir.

He is a truly tasteful bass player. There's some great footage of him with Leonard Cohen in London

I've been on the hunt for a Sunburst PJ with block markers, tort guard, P profile neck, 70s logo.
So, when I saw this Roscoe Beck IV, which has virtually none of those attributes, I just had to buy it.

:) I resemble that remark!

I had one of those bridges on a bass once and the saddles started to shatter/crumble for no apparent reason. It's poss that I just had duff castings or something, but it was a real surprise and a pain in the butt.

Great choice WoT!

SiverFoxNik's RB V's are among the best sounding basses I've heard and imagine the IV must be similar

Thank you kind sir! :) Happy New Year by the way...

I only have one now which is the 2nd one I bought from Happy Jack in 2010; it is, as they say, 'a keeper'!

I moved on the other one with an active circuit because I think (as has been said here), the original passive circuit is superb and doesn't need any embellishment...

Congrats WoT - that's a lovely looking instrument !

Strings in between pole pieces = warm.

( I happen to know Sterling Ball had a Stingray made by Leo in the early days with a 5-string pickup fitted for the same reason)

There actually are pole pieces under the strings, but they're sunken low under the covers, IIRC, they were designed this way to help the sound as you go further up the neck on the low strings, which'd be handy for a 5er.

I have a set of Daddario tapes on mine now, truly gorgeous sound.

Still very much in love... the flats suit it REALLY well.

Here's a clip from last night. It's not a great recording, though...

I've got some Lakland Flats coming soon to try for a change...
