StevieD_FenderP2009
Hey guys My stupid idiot of a "friend" decided it would be a good idea to to try and turn the dial on my Ashdown overdrive pedal too far and guess what... HE BROKE IT! anyway, I unsoldered the pot and took it out but I don't know what sort of pot it is or where to get a replacement one. I've taken some pictures of it to identify it and the details written on it are as follows "Alpha B50K" and it also says "5N1" on it. Can someone help me find a new one? I quite like using this pedal. Here's the pics: HAAAAALP? Edited September 15, 2011 by pantherairsoft Language

StevieD_FenderP2009
Looks like it'll do the job. Thanks for that. I'll see if I have enough money to order one xD
Mr. Foxen
What's broken? Looks like the spline is squashed,, can be persuaded back with a screwdriver, and if half shears off, epoxy the knob on sorts it (once).
StevieD_FenderP2009
Oh nah that's nothing to do with it, that was me when I removed it. He turned it round and forced it to far so it broke something inside the pot and it doesn't stop it spinning round
KiOgon
It might be as well to edit your post heading before some people take offence at it.

Not especially but I know some people who have a Spastic son, if they saw that you can perhaps imagine their feelings. pantherairsoft
Title and first posted edited to remove swear words. Please watch the language. From the posts above I gather that I'm too late to witness the original title (which is good as that would of earnt you a warning!). Hope the pot gets sorted. Other folks breaking your stuff is about as frustrating as it gets!
bremen
http://www.rapidonline.com/Electronic-Components/47k-16mm-Linear-Potentiometer-65-0725 might be a better choice; you'd need to hard-wire the pins to the board but it has a threaded bush to mount to the panel, unlike the Netsemi option. dudewheresmybass
It might be a dumb thing to suggest, but why not try contacting ashdown directly Often companies are prepared to send out the part for very little or even free
AttitudeCastle
Have you tried Ashdown themselves?

StevieD_FenderP2009
Cheers guys, sorry I didn't post a reply on here before, I do appreciate all your suggestions. I'll contact them in the morning about it. Hopefully they can sort one out for me. Also, the light in the VU meter on mine has gone but the VU meter does still work so is there any way of replacing the light or are there aftermarket vu meters out there that would fit the ashdown pedal? Again, thanks very much guys and i apologise for any offence caused by the original title

StevieD_FenderP2009
I just spoke to Guy at Ashdown and he's going to look around for a new pot for me so that's all good. Am I right in thinking that I just spoke to Guy Pratt from the David Gilmour band?
radansey
No, he is Guy Morel not Guy Pratt
mike257
Guy at Ashdown is ace, sent me out a replacement footswitch for my Hyperdrive free of charge, even though it was well past its warranty period. Mind you, it broke again, so I've just bought myself a heavy-duty one - so cheapo parts, but top customer service!!
StevieD_FenderP2009
I'm waiting on him to email me to say he's got some of the pots in and he said he'll send me one once he's got some in again which is nice of him
