New Cab Day - yayyyy!!!

Have just received my new Barefaced Midget, to go with my Barefaced Compact & Ampeg PF-500.

Will update with a review of the stack once I`ve used it at a rehearsal, but just felt the need to share the joy today :)

I'll be interested in reading your review.

I ask this out of curiosity and with no agenda - why did you feel the need to add the midget to the stack - did you feel the compact wasn't able to do what you needed by itself?

Three reasons really Paul, but certainly, having used the Compact last night (I`ve added to the review on here about this), it would be able to what I need in all but the largest of halls. I can`t think of a pub that I`ve been in where it wouldn`t be able to cope on its own.

Firstly, I`m of the school of "must have multiple speakers". I just prefer the sound of multiple speakers going, than one on its own.

Secondly, the Compact is a great cab, but it`s not very tall, and I generally play in punk/rock bands, so want to be able to hear myself, without turning up ridiculously loud (which the Compact will do, btw) and drowning out the rest of the band. I`ve never needed to do this with 410s or stacks, because of the height, so wanted this set-up to be similar. This way, I can have a great sound, hear myself, and also get a bit of "bite" from the Midget to compliment the great solid lows that the Compact emits.

Lastly, I`d read reviews of the pair together, and they sounded so good, I just had to do it. Damn GAS!

That's exactly why I am interested, too :)

I have rehearsed and gigged my BF Compact now and, in terms of volume, would guess it can handle pretty much any situation. But if I were being totally picky, a little more top end would make it just perfect. I could live without it but, well, do I need to live without it?...

Thats what I found with mine last night, I had to select the Ultra-Hi facility on my amp, to get bit a bit of snappiness to the sound, whereas now with the Midget, I`m sure that won`t be necessary, as it has a real nice "bite" to it on the mids/highs.
