Shine 8 Eight String Bass For Sale/Trade

I was missing my 12 string and since I thought it would be a bit overkill for the wedding band I decided to get an 8 string but I can't get it to fit in anywhere so its now up for sale.

Its a shame cos after posting in the repairs and technical issues section saying that i couldn't get it set up to my liking, I managed to get it set up to my liking :) and have been practicing all week to make sure I could pull it off.

I'm literally just back from tonight's gig with it so haven't had the chance to take any pictures of it on its own but here are some pictures I recently put in the gear porn forum:

The truss rod cover is missing from the pictures as I had just adjusted the truss rod but it will be fitted prior to delivery/meet up or whatever.

The bass is a maple through neck with walnut strips and a rosewood fretboard with 24 frets. Considering its maple, its not that heavy and it balances very well on a decent strap. It has satin nickel hardware and a 2 band EQ. I changed the battery when I bought it to a decent Duracell one as it had one of those cheap and nasty ones fitted. The bass was made in Shine's Korea factory as its one of their top of the range models and everyone knows Korea is the new Japan innit :)

Its in minty condition and so it should be cos its new. I can't find any marks on it anywhere. It will come with a gig bag and I have a set of Rickenbacker strings I can include for an additional £35 (they're £49 from Strings Direct) otherwise I'll sell them separately.

As far as price goes, they're currently £385 delivered not including gig bag so I'd be looking for something of equal value new when considering trades.

I haven't a clue what I'd be looking for in a trade so try me and you might have what I didn't know I wanted

For a straight sale I'd be looking for around the £[s]300[/s] 275 mark ONO including postage to mainland UK

Have a bump on me for being a good sport and offering me your TB :)
The answer was going to be yes, wasn't it?

Alternatively you could:

1) remove the octave strings strings and use it as a wideneck 4

2) remove the fundamentals and add another 4 octave strings and use it with a polyphonic octave pedal as a pseudo 8 string

3) convert it to a 5 or even a 6 string if a Kahler bridge would take the string spacing down to what you need for a 6. Actually that has me thinking :)

Quick dummy technical question based on the above. Do you need different pickups for a 5 string compared to a 4 string, if they're just soapbars as the ones in this seem to be? I.e. is there a 1/2 magnet per string policy?

Normally soapbar pickups like these have 2 long bars running more or less the length of the pickup. that's why you can still use EMG35s for 4 or tight 5 string spacing.

Complely different to the exposed polepiece type pickup which require the strings to be at a certain place over the pickup

Forgot to say that I'd be up for trades of the following:

Laney Nexus NX115 or NX410 cabs
Epiphone Thunderbirds of most descriptions such as: Standard, Goth, Nikki Sixx, Ltd ed white, red, blue, silverburst, black, non-reverse 4 or 5 (that's probably all of them to be honest)

or just try me

OK guys and gals. I understand that this may be quite a niche bass but I think everyone should own at least an 8, if not a 12ver at some point just to feel the thunder for themselves.

Ideal for beefing up a 3 piece band, impressing the ladies or just for showing off in general

If you think that the price is too high then feel free to make me a reasonable offer, I can only say no. :)

Is it just me, or do these have more than a whiff of Cort about them? That's not a derogatory comment in any way, BTW, I had a really nice A4, and the build quality was terrific.

Anyhoo, bump in a If-I-had-the-spare-cash kinda way... :)

I don't think it is the same factory as cort. Taken from their website:
Saein Musical Instrument Co., Ltd. Is located in Namdong Industrial Complex in Incheon, Korea. Saein was established in 1991, 07. 01. Currently, we have 100 employees, and our monthly capacity is 4,500pcs still growing to expand.

Our main business is OEM for famous brand Epiphone. Also, our solely branded Shine is increasing steadily. In February, 2001, we have successfully launched a new independent factory in Gaomi City, China. It is only an hour away from Qingdao Shandong province. Our China factory employees are 300 people, and our monthly capacity is 10,000pcs still growing to expand as well. We are an OEM vendor for famous brand Ibanez, and Peavey.
