bajistaman Posted April 6, 2011 Share Posted April 6, 2011 My new gear almost complete (Still waiting for my TC Electronic RS210), after selling my mesa boogie walkabout here in Basschat, 3 basses (1 sold in Basschat the rest in ebay) I was able to get hold after a painful import from USA to an Aguilar DB750, I realize that carrying that beast it's not an easy task so I decided to buy the TC Electronic stuff as a backup for smaller gigs, I might replace it then by a Aguilar TH500 if they ever reach this part of the world. Thanks to [b]jonnyj[/b] for the TC stuff, [b]johnbiffa[/b] for buying my Mesa Boogie, [b]martfitz[/b] for buying my Sandberg, [b]Jacob Kreifels[/b] from Wild Party (The Wombats' support act) for the DB750 and Guitar Guitar for the DB112 and to all the basschaters for giving me the ideas of what gear to try out. After getting my Aggy GS112 to go with my LMIII, I don't honestly know why ANYONE would choose to have big, bulky gear when the Aggy cabs are so compact and so damn good! bajistaman Posted April 7, 2011 Author Share Posted April 7, 2011 When buying the head I was expecting paying 200 US for the delivery, suddenly it became 500 US what it was way too much, I checked some UK sites and Parcel Network quote me £100 so I booked it, a long story short they didnt have any idea about my delivery so after a week a cancelled it and we arrange a new delivery from an US company for 350 US. The good thing is that for some reason I wasnt charged any vat or customs duty. Ive decided to go for a db750 because I was attracted by its good reviews and liked its eq simplicity and power. I thought there were a few issues with U.S DB750's swapping to UK voltage...? I guess a UK amp will run to about £1000 SH here so if you can get one over from the U.S for there or thereabouts inc post etc etc , I wouldn't rule it out. Be careful with placement of the jumper switch and ensure that you have the thermistor in place. A bit of effort will deliver immense reward - probably my favourite amp head (well, this and the Epifani ul502). I'd agree entirely on the double handled rack case and the trolley. I'm thinking about a shockrack with castors. The DB750 is immensely heavy (I had to carry mine for half a mile from the Parcelforce depot when it arrived - 'absolutely knackered). I'd get more mileage out of a heavier amp than heavier bulkier speakers though. A 38lb amp plus flighcase isn't THAT bad and I wouldn't get rid of my current amp anyway.
