Now SOLD - thanks to all for the comments and enquiries

No hyperbole here - it is what it is and I expect that anybody with serious interest will have lots of questions. Just some basic details:

Alleva Coppolo LG4 in 3 tone sunburst
Serial 0048 (the last bass to be despatched from Jimmy's New York shop in June 2008 as far as I know)
Nitro finish in excellent condition - the bass could almost pass for new
Alder two-piece body
Dalbergia Negra board (old cut, old growth - supply now exhausted - $1500 upcharge)
Hipshot drop-tuner (E)
AC pickups (in-house wind)
AC two-band circuit (in-house build)
Vol, Vol (with pull for passive), Passive Tone (operational in passive and active mode), Treble, Bass
AC bent plate bridge
Supplied in almost new Hiscox EBS case (one small impression in the valance at the bottom - arrived new with this)

The bass pre-dates current AC nomenclature but would be classified as 'classic supreme' if built today (or possibly custom as it has the DN board). Please see the AC site for further details of timbers, options and build philosophy etc.

The bass is almost unblemished but has been played. On opening the case, it looks new. Very careful inspection will reveal a few very minor surface marks and natural maturation of the nitro finish.

Playability is IMO (and that of some knowledgeable and experienced professionals) superb. The bass was set-up and given a light fret-stone about six weeks ago by Martin at the Gallery. The action is currently very low.

During a previous set-up, a micro crack became evident in the neck cavity on the G side. Martin glued this and it is now entirely stable and invisible (stability was checked by Martin during the last set-up). The crack was probably caused by an extremely tight neck joint (characteristic of AC basses). Martin carefully sanded a very small amount of lacquer from the butt-end of the neck and now it fits extremely snugly but without danger of causing further cracks. The problem was very minor, I simply want to ensure complete disclosure - this is a very expensive bass. Interested parties may wish to check with Martin/Alex.

I'm selling this as I have two AC LG4s (both with DN boards) and I'm trying to be more realistic - I really don't need two. The one that I'm selling is the better player (the other is awaiting a fret-stone but I expect it to be just as good as the 3TS). The price of £2850 is firm - I have well over £3k in the bass and don't really need to sell it (indeed, keeping it would be no hardship). Anybody with a serious interest is strongly encouraged to come and try the bass in central Manchester. I can ship to UK, Europe and the US at the buyer's expense (and with professional packaging) - pickup is an option of course. My availability will be very limited in the w/c 30th August but better thereafter (I'm around this weekend too).

There's some discussion of the bass on TB - apparently, Jimmy Coppolo holds the instrument in very high regard.

Images will be posted here later - for now please take a look at the images in BC Gear Porn (please note, the colour appears to be over-saturated to me - the sunburst is more subdued and classy than it appears here):
