1. Used to be mine. Has no description. http://cgi.ebay.com/1978-WAL-Bass_W0QQitem...Q2em118Q2el1247
 2.
Very good summary. If anyone wants to dig more, try here... Wal History I have a ProIIe which can sound very much like a MkI or, as some have described, a PBass on steroids. One warning... Pro electronics are aging and some parts may be impossible to replace. It wouldn't keep me from buying one but I wouldn't make it an everyday bass. dunc
Great to see you over here, Dunc!
 3.
Well said...
I second that emotion!
 4.
With one of these you can get any sound that you want! (even a wal sound!) Everyone here should click onto the site he recommended!
 5. Nik - Yes, I am on Facebook but I just don't have much time for it, if any at all. If I get the chance I'll try to add you as a friend - or, vice-versa
 6.
+1 Hi Mike, How's things - hope all's well with you? Good to see we've still got a bit of interesting Wal action occuring on this side of the pond! It was only down the road from me so I was very, very tempted to go and have a look today. Seems to be some very good news coming through the Wal forum about the future of the Wal brand which has got to be good news for everyone, especially Pete... Nik
All's good here, Nik! Thanks. I trust the same for you. Yes, what a lovely and different Wal. Can't say I didn't think about it myself. If it wasn't for good ole Chris Franklin, we'd all be thinking doomsday about Wal. And it looks like I may be toward the head of the pack for a new one, accoring to Chris! Any idea where Chris F. & Trevor are posting now?
 7.
Congratulations! It must be a transition model?? If it's got the Pro2e body & headstock but has the Custom electronics, then it might turn out to be a very interesting find!!
Yes, congratulations are in order! I'd also like to see some photos.
 8.
Is it just me but you are trying to sell a £58,000 bass and you put 2 half blurred photos! You would have thought some effort was required
.....and the photos are the same just turned around
 9. What are they smoking down under to come up with this http://cgi.ebay.com/1960-Burns-Artist-Bass...1QQcmdZViewItem

 11. I have a 650B from the late 1970s. These are very underrated and great basses.
 12. As always, when these pop up -- they are beautiful! Good luck with the sale. I would definitely be interested but I am in the USA and shipping is atrocious. Sure would like it!
 13. I'm a fan of these. Nice semi hallow body with short scale neck. I f I was in the UK I'd be interested. Good luck!
 14.
Yeah thanks heaps brother. I didnt expect some of the attitude i got about the shipping from downunder i dont think its going to be an arm & legs worth. Its saturday now so i will get shipping & insurance info on Monday 100%. If there is Shergold Modulator collectors i would get it if i was them the bass sounds awesome plays just great & action could be a just a tad better but its very playable . Its heavy & very solid , got a neck like a P-bass i`d say & sounds you can get basically any sound Jazz or P-Bass sounds are there. The bass is made to last forever its like a rock. Thanks for the help my brother, im Downunder but not on the moon or Saturn, its not that far . Insurance would pretty much make sure it arrives safely so i dont know why people freak out so much. I have bought from the States recently it took the bass exactly 6 days to get to my doorstep Downunder in packaging you wouldnt believe just unreal service(Ebay). I think the more expensive the item the more care is taken in its arrival. Anyway its going on Ebay straight after i find out shipping & insurance so keep an eye out bro if your interested plus i will put some new high resolution photos to see it even better. Thanks again for the help, Catchya later brother.
I've tried out similar Shergolds, being a lover of UK made basses, and it was very heavy with quite a round neck -- not the profile for me. I am in the USA and have shipped and received from Australia before and it was a monstrous $300. per package. You will have to use shipping companies (FedEx and such) as guitar boxes are over the size limit. This seller is a novice to international shipping details. According to the generous appraised estimates from forum members, the shipping could/will be half the value of the bass. These are realistic issues and transportation figures. Sorry...."brother"
 15.
Must have fallen out with Muff then.
Not sure Muff was a real bass player. He may have just been the protective older brother to a teenager.
 16. He's been playing live without a bass player for years. Saw him in San Diego on tour about 7 or 8 years ago and noticed he played all the parts on his organ pedals. Saw him for the first time in 1970 on the John Barleycorn Tour with both originals that are now deceased. He also sat behind me at the final gig for the Cream Reunion. I was shocked!
 17. It's an original 1966 or 1967 Ampeg AEB-1. However, it has been refinsihed in green instead of the original red/black burst with the scroll head.
 18. That's a real nice MK1 fretless you got there, An0intd! Welcome to the forum!
 19.
If anyone's interested in one of these Riverheads - there is one on the Bay right now. Although considering who's selling it - it's likely to stay there... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/80s-RIVERHEAD-HEADLE...emZ180240148620 J.
Correct-a-mungo! I would rather wait forever than to buy anything from those overpriced jugheads! Thanks for the head-up, though. Here's the kind of customer service they leave for all negatives & neutrals on ebay: "WE RUN A TIGHT BIZ & RECEIVE 200E-MAILS A DAY-CANT ANSWER ALL RIGHT AWAY-THANKS!" -- Sounds like my kind of people -----NOT
 20.
The BX-1 is why: Those inlays are non-standard, of course. There was also a BX-5 (5-string). I wanted one when they came out.
Damn! How do I get one of those?
 21.
I have one of these of a similar age but in Shoreline Gold and it's a fantastic bass.. Lovely vintage tones but with much more tonal flexibility than most passive basses.. Yours looks immaculate and in that condition, it is as you say a bit of a rarity - especially now that the 5 strings models are no longer made! Good luck with the sale and have a free bump!
I knew you'd be on that, Nik!
 22.
Good call. WS was a journalist and a reporter of his time. He recorded the news and put it onstage for the masses. Albeit with poetic flare. The internet and papers weren't an option then. So what is the best way to get exposure? Go through the media. Then - twas the theatre, hearsay, and societal connections. Never be afraid of opinion. Never be afraid of criticism. ...just never take it home...!
A good lesson to aspire to!
 23.
It's a great question to ask on a forum like this. Like, for instance, which is better - blue or red? Everyone has an opinion or a preference. And because of that, they're quite open and ready to put their views forward. Just a shame some people take things too personally, and view someone else's opinion that challenge's their own as an attack. Allow me this. Going back to a previous post, I don't think the term "Indie" off the back off "Independent" is bad journalism at all. It's in the musical language now, a genre, and recognised. Wouldn't you like to be the person who came up with the word "Punk"?. For the pot, mine is Billy Sheehan. And Fieldy. Both of them are always out of tune. But they do have their moments....!
Well done! Good positive post, here! Gents take your cue from Kubickiboy!
