I'll be there, even though I normally drive straight past Bridgewater, and do everything possible to avoid Taunton....
Taunton is a tad bit nicer than this sh*t hole.
You aren't the only one Mind you, at least Bridgy doesn't smell quite so bad now the cellophane factory's gone. But it's still the perfect place to go if you fancy getting your teeth kicked in on a Saturday night.
Or just about any night of the week, but hang on a sec, if your constantly going past Bridgwater why haven't you ever considered stopping by and try and sedcue into that omnious sect that is Shuker?
  2.
In the middle of what? Bandit country? I suppose if you ignore Cornwall you might be close to being right. Lorne's right
Alright, either way we've still got the sodding accent.
  3.
Wow,is Bridgwater even in the South West???? It's certainly on the border,it would depend on when really
In fact it's nearly in the middle, Bristol and Bath are on the border I think, I could be wrong. Just had a helpful PM from SilverfoxNik and one thing he said is about how big the actual SW area is, should there be a limit or should it ecompass from Brissle all the way to the home of Doc Martin?
  4.
Umm no idea. What do we need? just a place with a bar i guess. Matt
A place big enough for our collective ego's and expensive gear, plug sockets aplenty, toilets and smoking facilities (Filthy habbit), food maybe, I'm just trying to take in to account everything the other guys did when they were setting up the SE Bass Bash. Parking as well.
  5.
btw, dont wanna start a mass debate (say that as one word ), but i nearly spat my guinness out reading your under avatar bit
It's true as well.
  6. I could even take a wild guess at who could possibly be there: Me obviously. Absolute Beginner Master Kev BottomFeed Rich Old Git Chipps ChardBass Bill Banwell Will Tottle Just a wild guess, some aren't on here but would no doubt be up for coming, what would be a sensible number before committing to anything?
  7.
bah! It didnt work, how do i do it?
Bring up the advanced edit option and click on the manage poll option and have a fiddle with that. If still no joy would you want me to start another thread with one?
  8.
see this is the kinda bass bash which id be up for
Knowing your luck Kev you'll get stranded in Brissle somehow. Bridgy is only a 30-40 drive from Brissle mind you, so that's a 2 hour walk if your quick .
  9. Just go to the edit option of your first post and look for the add poll button and et voila!
  10. Right just had a look at the Yell and their are some places I had compeltely forgot about and can easily try and arrange something , but I need to know now that if I do find a place and what not, who would be 100% up for it because if there is a good number I'll happily undertake the task or organising such a thing or if someone would like to share the burden? Come on you toothless cider drinking yocals stick your paws up. Or if anyone from outside of the SW wants to come would be more than welcome.
  11.
I'm originally from Somerset (even though I live in Yorkshire now) so I might be able to fit it in with a visit to my mum or something... Keep me in the loop... I'm sure there are a few Church Halls or function rooms not doing much on a dull Sunday in spring...
From one funny place with a ridiculous accent to another . Hmmm I couldn't bare to be in a church now, we wouldn't be allowed to wear hats either, but there is a place ran by my Mum's old best friend, I think it's called Jual, or something but going by their advert on Orchard Fm, they offer a room for interviews or similar functions, I'll have a quick look into it. If not, there is a chap on here called Will Tottle who owns a hefty amount of warehouses on here who might be up for letting us go mad in one for a few hours, or is that a bit too much?
  12. Nope, I'd be there and willing to help sort it out though, I keep going through places in Brdigwater that I could ask, I know an owner of a few warehouses but of course the acoustics would be atrocious. But nonetheless I'd be happy to help muck in and get one in the pipeline, but then again isn't there only like 10 people who post who are from down these funny talkin' parts?
  13.
yeah prick mark king eh??? play like it, id love to see you play like that, and sing at the same time...
Now this is one of the reasons many people get put off slapping, and it's what TBBC is getting at, alot of players are delluded that being able to play slap like Mark King and having the exact same bass and rig as him and being able to do every little nuance thing he does (I mean even chewing gum and the slap ring or tape and the trademark strap height) will make you a good or "cool" bassist, a member of the Joe public may see it that way, but bassists who have been playing long enough can smell the cologne of a clone straight away. What I'm getting at is that alot of the slap playing we see is either clones attemtping to be someone their not, whereas examples of tasteful "Original" slapping aren't too common especially when compared to amount of Mark King clones/Flea clones/Wooten clones etc... who are taking up the stage when they could be earning more respect by sitting back and learning to refrain from bass acrobatics to get attention.
  14. The HD350's and TD650's haven't got too much between them, if I couldn't of afforded my TD650 I would've gone for the HD350 no question. I run mine through 2 EBS Proline 2x10's and it is plenty loud enough for me when I turn it to 2, having the extra power really does come in handy.
  15.
Love videos like that, theres some great ones around. Other than "fookin coom on" I couldn't make out a word he was saying though.
NobEdd was also a popular choice from his vast vocabulary.
  16. Ohh that is very smile enducing.
  17. Josh

    G string.

My Friend of Misery is nice and easy, and Orions bass solo.
  18.
Yep. Hammett just did the widdley widdley bollocks. Hetfield laid 6 or more identical guitar tracks using different gear. That's why it sounds so tight. Especially MoP. EDIT - I believe the production on every non-Cliff LP has been sh*te - was he really producing them?
Hammett's rhythm is very tight though but The Het is a rock. MoP = Epic. Confused by what your trying to say man, the only Metallica albums with good/decent production are: Load, Re-Load and Garage Inc. and of course, Death Magnetic. The irony is the best ones they've made are the ones with the crappest mix...okay that dsoen't apply for St. Anger. Anyways for guitarists who slag us off, ah well let them have their fun, we usually walk away with more respect and our dignity.
  19.
I'm still not really sure what's meant by 'growl'. The Geddy Lee sound? or is that more 'snarl'?
Jaco's tone is growl personified. Warm and very focused. Or more easily said, "The Non-P Bass tone". Geddys tone isn't what I'd call the classic growl, it's much more of a overdriven crunch.
  20. The easy answer is to favour the bridge pick up when you play, and regarding controls, well I don't know what bass you've got exactly man but the best thing for you to do would be to sit down with your bass and get 100% comfortable with your eq, and then when you are it is then a simple case of making sure the bridge pick up is louder than the neck pick up but make sure you haven't got too much treble rolled on and that there is enough bass pushing the mids across. Or as Jake said, save up for a Warwick Thumb bass
  21.
Maybe a stupid question...who did the original of What's Going On? I always thought it was A Perfect Circle, but maybe not?..
Marvin Gaye.
  22.
Definitely a LEJ6
Did yours sound anything like that one Jake?
  23.
very nice, very tight. thats what i want my lot to get like but with the singer as it is it aint gonna happen. like that bass tone, is that a sadowski?
Close, it's a Lowend Jazz 6, sounds like my Sadowsky and MTD put together though.
  24. Like Bilbo, I'm not one for cover bands or tribute acts, but I stumbled across a few clips of these guys and I am actually genuinley impressed on every level: Whats Going On: I Wish: Brickhouse: That bassist is right down my street and really brought a new feel to those songs IMO. I'd watch them. Oh and they're called The Phat Hat Band.
  25. Still, threads like these can be discouraging more than encouraging. At least Argh isn't sugar coating the otherside of the truth.
