yeah they’re borderline the same - much like car manufacturers, they did a mid lifecycle repackage.

With cars, it’s usually a grille and headlight shape change.

On These - they put different pickups in and did some colour changes.

    but necks and bodies…same.

Ta Andy, any massive tonal differences between the pickups? Both seem a great deal for the quality of basses.

  2. So there are two VERY nice BBs for sale currently, and I was all for the BBG4, but then I saw the Crimson BBN ii.

Anyone able to do a quick list of the differences between these? Are the neck profiles the same etc.

  3. think I have worked out what's most important to me in a bass.

It's not the neck, or pickup arrangement or even number of strings. It's a smaller body.

The two basses I've got on best with recently is my MTD Kingston K5 and a Sandberg Electra VS4 which I regret selling a bit. I've currently got a Sire V7 which just isn't working, just like the other 3 jazz basses I've had in the past haven't worked.

And recently I tried a Squier CV 50s P Bass which was great, but the G&L SB2 I tried after just felt better to me. Of course, this could just be another phase but having a large bodied bass might be something I just don't like. Anyone else in the same camp?

    Hello Yammis,

I am after some information regarding Yamaha BBs spare parts.

Basically I need a new pickup ring for my BB1024x:

Would you know how I could get to order this part?

I do appreciate any little help.

    Thanks :)

The only thing I'd like them to do is do the more premium without the figured tops and plain colour but with Aguilars already in.

I think we all know that won't happen 😂

In general, guitar manufacturing seems to go more premium features = fancy woods and top veneers. Us plebs only get the solid finishes.

  6. It's a pretty wide range already.

4/5 string multiscale (standard and premium options)

4/5 string normal scale (standard and premium options)

    6 string multiscale

    4 string standard shortscqle

    5 string short scale multiscale.

They'll probably keep it much the same with some new finishes at best. Seems to be the Ibanez way.

Spector revamped and upgraded their Legend line up a couple of years back and the difference between them and the Euro range seems to have blurred, particularly at the top end of the new Legend range, which can retail for > £1k and also be neck through in construction.

I think this is it for me, I have no idea where to start! I don't think I want to go in at the Performer range. Now I've looked a bit more, there the NS Ethos range at £1.5k. But can't find many reviews of the 5 string version, just the 4. So many choices!

  8. Been having a wee nosey at Spectors recently as I'm just not getting on with my Sire.

I played a Euro in a shop a while back and liked how straightforward the controls were. Question is, how are the Legends in comparison? Seems you either buy the Legend or go full Euro and that's a BIG price difference!

Ive tried looking for videos but unfortunately most of the them are focused around metal and distortion which I don't really do... 😅
