thought id give it another chance and have to admit some of the licks are quite cool. It's just not my thing. I like lots of space, where theres no unnecesary playing and lots of repetition. Maybe when i can play stuff like this i'l appreciate it more

its kind of like someone did an experiment. They gave someone who has never heard music in his life a bass guitar and Hadrien is the outcome. Although i have only heard him solo'ing, would love to hear him playing in a blues trio or something just to see if he can do it.

Gotta say guys thanks very much. The plan is that for my specialised project i was going to write a method book. From this data so far it seems the three best ways are private lessons, internet based stuff and learning by ear. So now im thinking maybe write a book that can aid teachers, almost be like a "homework" book. Probably have it as a PDF instead of a book so its more accessible to those online, possibly include video's as well. And finally an ear training section where a seperate PDF could have answers. Please keep it coming though guys, its all helping and the more the input the better the average will be

I admit to play what you feel but if you dont know what your playing you can only play by yourself. So i showed him how i would use scales over a simple song, think it was hard days night, and sure enough he then learnt the fingerboard and basic scales. And from that he found that the stuff he had "created" was based on a Mixolydian scale

I think iv explained this pretty badly. Imagine your all just starting out. Things i'd like you to consider; Would you have much access to the internet, ie your own computer (although most kids have one when there 10 nowdays i did not) Would you be able to get to a tutor? Could you afford personal lessons? Or if you did have lessons did your tutors recommend you books to get as well as the lessons? Inputs been great so far though chaps and has given me plenty to think about

not quite the same but i just wanted to whinge about it. Last saturday night i managed to trap my middle finger in heavy door. It took off some of the nail and has left me not being able to use it (right hand btw). Needless to say the rock gig i did last night did not go well with just index finger powering the notes, nowhere near enough speed! And also with end of year exams just 2 weeks away im going to have to start using a pick

Asking what 6 string is best is like asking what the best colour. There are many out there to suit your specific needs/wants/budget personally i'd go with a fodera

When i met Paul Turner he was telling me there were some great tracks tht Jamiroquai wrote and recorded but the record label didnt like them so they won't be heard by us mere public

Just watched Cee Lo Green at Glasto on Iplayer and his band have the most boring faces i have ever seen!! They all lacked facial expression, stood in the same place and the guitarist looked at his fretboard so much i dont think he had ever played a guitar so much. Your playing Glastonbury, and getting paid too! I put on more of an effort than that playing in the pubs. Disgraceful. Anybody else see bands like this during glastonbury? Got to say though Janelle Monae's band were incredible.
