"Bass Guitar" The single oddest thing about this is that the listing doesn't say "Fender". Anywhere. Anyway, I am no Fender expert, but I know my copies, & would like to think I could spot a shonky fake-up. However, this looks kosher to me - are my eyes playing tricks? Jon.
+1, i reckon the guy just doesn't know ebay and possibly just wants what he paid for it. It looks all good except the difference in coating from the front headstock to the rear. I havn't seen that on a fender before. Otherwise i wish i had the funds for it
2. Boss ODB-3 is the most common and most used bass specific distortion pedal on the market. It has a huge aray of fat, to crunchy to pure dirty sounds. Im selling this boxed and in near mint condition for £32 + P&P (£2 something 2nd class) PM or email [email protected]
3.
We all love bass direct, but why is he stating CBS when its not....?
it is cbs era, cbs took over in '65, anything before that is known as pre cbs. Its in great condition and is an earlyish model when you think late 70's models fetch near £2000 and anything before '67 will get nearer £4000
4. I think one thing people seem to miss is the difference between players price and dealers price. Dealers can afford to hold on to instruments longer as they have other sales generating income. So they wait until they can get a good return on what they spent. I think if advertised in a classifieds or ebay or here you would be looking to get a little less than what a dealer would sell them for. From examples over the last few years i would say £2500- £2700 for the p bass and £3000-£4000 for the jazz bass. I think the best thing to do would be to find a good shop in london that would do a commission deal as they seem to sell for more than they do north of the midlands. You just need to make sure its a deal that would get you more than selling privately.
5.
Detest them. I find them hideously embarrassing to watch. I probably have some sort of self-loathing issue that makes me feel this way.
as for watching them, never have never will.
6. at the moment its my career ambition, i love the dramatic music, like film scores kinda thing. Just need to get good and be a reading master
7. great shop too! but yeh too far for me
8.
what a great wake up morning band. Not sure on Tokyo as a song though, i prefer the outrageously cheesey first album
Oh and tone wise, just a picked p bass through an orange stack.

10. For my essay iv got to analyse my practice routine. So i wondered what the typical routines for basschats finest were......
11. nate watts plays it synth live, so maybe a moog pedal?
12. as with everything its worth what people are willing to spend on it
13. I'm starting to think jazz basses are cool :s
14. I love the dead sound and feel of the ghs boomers, once i wear them in a bit
15. just played this bass today. Really good bass and i compared it to the 70's classic MIM and 60's roadworn jazz basses. The tone ws great for me, lots of mids with a bit of growl, what i would describe a marcus miller tone. It made the roadworn sound very artificial and sloppy and the MIM didnt quite get the same tone. However, to get this tone i think you can get the same and more out of the Marcus Miller signiture. The one i played on really was amazing and i think rather than buying the squier i will save up for the Marcus Miller. But all in all i give the squier an 8/10..... 9/10 for tone, 6/10 for looks and quality, and 10/10 for value. If i was buying today on the basses i tried, i would leave the MIM and the Road worn for the squier which is not what i expected
16. i too was going to say musicman sub, or a used MIM 70's classic jazz bass
17. These come up for between £750 and £900 here and on ebay. I personally wouldn't pay more than £800 for one because thats how much i value them as. Different people have different valuations. In a shop it would be tagged at £1k but most shops barter on these prices
18. My favourite was the squier
19. how is it despite me knowing i really dont like the flea bass, after seeing that i really want one
20.
I think I've worked out that the core has gone in the string, I'll get a replacement tomorrow but playing it is amazing, what an instrument and so physically exhausting.
are you playing with a bow? its the mental strength to remember how to use the blummin thing that shatters me But OMG it sounds awsome, even for a cheep chinese! Hopefuly it is just the string, it looks very nice
21. I didnt try any of my current basses before i bought them, to save money more than anything. And the ones i have now are perfect. Although iv had a few crappy basses, one being an epiphone thunderbird, it got moved on rather quick. Also an american deluxe jazz bass, just didnt deliver anything near its value and the build quality was shoddy. It was a 2000 model
22. Does anyone own either of these? Im confused as to what the differences are and which to get.... Also unsure if the fake book is bass parts or piano charts of his compositions
23. Just knock the bridge up a bit, sorted out the action on my DB
24. just out of interest does anyone know how they did this? it cant have been using a gate, and i thought everything was recorded onto tape.
