1. I enjoy the simplicity of Garageband. I am no expert but I presume the Zoom is being plugged into the computer via the audio line in. If so, this may be the problem. I use a USB (Line 6) and/or Firewire interface and turn the feedback protection off, when recording an instrument. I don't get any buzz noise.
2. Hi Pat Phil man is an excellent teacher and player. Hope you enjoy ICMP Shaun
3. Greetings. I am in Putney, London. Good luck with your bass playing.
4. This is terrible new. The Halfmoon is 5 minutes walk from my place and the only decent live venue in the area.

6. This would be great. Phil is an amazing teacher and player.

8. I used to love jamming along to their first album as a kid.

Great looking bass.
10. I'm using a POD XT Live into headphones. IEM are a bit expensive for now, but definately worth getting in the future, especially as I'm living in London
11.
Didn't the Bass Centre shut as a physical shop towards the end of last year? I thought they were just online now.
I think you are right. The place was basically an office with a large store room. At the time I thought it was cause they were about to move out. I only went in cause the bass was used, so I wanted to see it first, luckily it was in great condition.
12. I had great service from Bass Centre in London a few months ago http://www.basscentre.com/default.asp I bought a bass from them. They let me try it out for as long a I wanted. Were really helpfull, friendly and offered good advise. They were in Liverpool Street area but have now moved.
13.
That's a fantastic place, the head of bass studies there is a guy called Terry Gregory, he's a friend of mine, and an excellent player and teacher...........he does play upside down and back to front though, like Jimmy Haslip.
Awsome I'm really keen to start
14. I've never had a music lesson in my life and have been playing for over 13 years. I’m going to Study at The Institute of Contemporary Music in London this October. I am really keen. I think it will be really beneficial. I’ve learnt to play by myself, but learning music on an academic level will definitely benefit my playing.
15. I think the spelling correction post is a bit off the topic to be honest.
16. Any suggestions on music shops in London that have decent bass equipment in stock. I know Soho Sound House and Sound Control have closed down, and The Bass Centre has closed its show room (in in favour of turning internet based - I think). I have checked out the Bass Cellar. Are there any other lesser known shops out there? I much prefer checking out equipment before buying it.
17. Damn, just got an exact look-a-like 2/3 weeks ago. I am really enjoying mine. How much is it going for? Or is it trade only?
18. I've used the BEAD tuning before on a 2nd bass, (i.e. it was not my main bass). Used to use it for a few songs that could make use of the deeper B string. Except for the nut issue mentioned above I think that it should sound great. I've never owned a 5 string bass so BEAD felt natural to me.
19. Ibanez ATK's are great low price basses. I got one in 1996 as my first 'proper' bass and still play it regularly. Great sound for its price
20.
Keep on jamming, that's a really good way to get your timing right with the other guys, particularly with the drummer. Why not arrange for just the two of you to get together and go through some bass and drums (the best part of any band ) and see what sort of feel/groove you come up with. Or go out and see some live bands, check out what the rhythm section is doing. Main thing is...keep playing, try things out, we all make mistakes and sometimes good grooves come from mistakes. Get in there mate
Definitely, Keep on playing, mistakes are part of the learning process.
21. Play along to a metronome and drums (real or computer) everyday. Don't only practice lines by yourself without percussion/drums/metronome. Also actively listen to the drums. Nothing beats genuine playing along with other musicians in a band situation (in my opinion).
