1.
My current setup ... Just looking out now for a tubey drive pedal with true bypass..
TK421x.. love it
2. they all seem to say 'pre-order - delivery in 8-10 weeks', so it sounds like a more expensive method of ordering directly from Ryan, unless I'm missing something?
3. NPD today - heading out for a gig in a minute, so just had time to add the Afterlife onto the board before I head out the door! Very happy with this setup... I see a SSBS Team Awesome Fuzz Machine squeezing on here in a couple of months, will prob upgrade the power supply first, and mount it underneath
4. plus, let's not get started on Mr. Z-Vex and his mammoth again!!
5. cheers Si - I'll have one on my board next week edit - like the vid too, that moth sounds a bit good!
6.
Easy fix! Loose the modulation!
I actually used to hate chorus, but I use it a lot now, it's pretty essential (for me)... New board being delivered Monday
7.
jumped back up to the bigger board to give the SS/BS mini a tryout! liking it so far, getting some nice gated, lo-fi tones with the bias turned down
I stupidly sold the purple SSBS Mini (above) last year, missed it so much I just got another one (sparkly silver this time!!) Such a great pedal! Only problem is I sold the Metro 24 board I used to have, and I can't fit 6 pedals on my PT Mini - really need to stop selling things so quickly!
8. Si - any thoughts / opinions on the afterlife (how it sounds with dirt, how usable the feedback is in a band setting, that sort of thing) - I'm quite tempted!
9. payday today. really tempted by a snazzy new delay, but £300-£400! not that tempted...
10. As new DOD 201 Phasor for sale. Perfect condition, true bypass, standard 9v operation. Nice subtle phaser. Wanting £40 for this, plus postage. cheers...

Dirt.

the one thing I can recommend based on experience with my stingray is a fulltone bassdrive. Sounded great with my 'ray, so I'd think anything tubescreamer based would work well (xotic BB bass preamp, etc). There are a few fuzzes with impedance controls, like the zvex mastotron, which should work well I'd think, but not tried any of them myself (moved to precisions as I wanted to play with more FX!!)
12. Dry January has almost saved me enough cash to buy one, though I'll still think twice at 300 quid!!
13. Fair enough. I have a dispatch master, but wish there was more control of the reverb, of the tone of the delay, a switch for self oscillation and tap tempo...so for me, the AR on paper does everything I want
14. I agree - everything has had a 20% bump since brexit too... I really fancy a bells and whistles delay, but £300 is just stupid money, I don't care what people say... what mixed reviews have you heard for the avalanche run? I fancy one, and only read good things...

Dirt.

I see from your sig you use a stingray. IMO dirt pedals don't sound that great through stingrays (muffs' anyway). The 2 or 3 dirt pedals I have sound great with my precisions, but awful with my stingray, so make sure you try something that works with active basses...
16. DOD 201 Phasor goes dead slow, very subtle sounding though. top mounted power, and pretty cheap.

18.
Distortion/overdrive/fuzz + reverb/echo/delay All you need, ever.
are you not ever so slightly cheating? that's 5 or 6!!!
19.
mine: tuner OC-2 } fill in this bit with loads of lovely Earthquaker devices.... TC flashback delay reverb - maybe? TC Nova Dynamics looper (EHX 360 - one knob goes all the way to '11').
I have to say, if you're pondering over a reverb, and some EQD goodness... dispatch master is one of my all time favourites, though I'd love to try an avalanche run... brexit is not pedalboard friendly though!!!
20. my word, this thread has been brought back from the dead!!! but I'll play... this is my board, and it has been the same for about 18 months, since the current band really got going, which much be a record! I'd love to try a harmony pedal or octave up but other than that, for the current band, I'm really happy with this setup (I should be, I've tried enough pedals to reach this point!) I still use a stupid amount of pedals when I'm in the studio, but for live I've always liked keeping it simple, relatively speaking. So to answer the question posed 9 years ago, I reckon I have close to my ideal setup, for live. Though generally, there are always more pedals to buy / try!!
21. Always loved subtle phase myself, so mxr phase 45 or dod phasor 201...
22. Up for sale is my as-new smallsound / bigsound Mini. This is a really versatile pedal, two band EQ, the gain goes from super clear through to almost fuzz-like, and the bias control let's you dial in very transparent tones, right through to gated, more lo-fi sounds. Cracking pedal, I'm just not using it in my current band and need the cash for DIY (a sorry state of affairs!!) Currently for sale at Joe's Pedals for £139 (though I imported from the States at higher cost for a nicer colour!), so I'm putting this up for £105 posted, next day (signed for) delivery (in the UK). Boxed, as new condition, in a rather snazzy sparking purple finish
