2. Hi Ben, I've seen the name around (Hector's House). I'm in Horsham so I guess you guys have probably played around here ... How are your cab builds going? I've built my own cabs in the last couple of years (my own designs) & I'm very happy with the results, but haven't really been able to compare them directly with anything else. I'll look out for your gigs ... cheers, Andy
3. The Deltalite is now sold - the cab is still available!
4. Great little mixer. Mackie build quality. Great sound. 4 x mic/line channels 4 x stereo line channels tape in/out sub & main mixes aux send internal effects usual stuff lots of knobs, buttons, sliders & LEDs nice yellow bits I think I still have the original box & manual, but here it is on-line http://www.mackie.com/products/discontinued/tapco/mixfxseries_om.pdf Only ever used at home, and then only rarely, so virtually new condition. All yours for just £90 + delivery
5. Oh, and I can provide spec sheets for the cab if anyone is interested ...
6. I have an Eminence Deltalite II 2512 for sale. About 18 months old & effectively mint condition. I had it in a cab I built for a few months, but then replaced it with a Fane, so it's been back in its box since the start of the year. Cheapest I can find these new is £115, so I reckon £75, including postage is a pretty good deal. I'm also building a new cab to go with the 4x8 that I just built, so I have a 1x12 custom cab available if anyone is interested. As mentioned above I've had it fitted with both the Deltalight & a Fane Sovereign, and it sounds great with both. It's finished in a blood red stain & laquer (the finish could have been a bit better, but hey, it was my first attempt - and it does catch the eye)! Built from 15mm baltic birch ply, self-bracing, and complete with steel grille (needs finishing as I never got round to spraying it), corners, internal foam damping & mounting plate for 2 jack connectors (but not the connectors) - sorry, but I'm keeping the other bits to complete my replacement cab. The timber and parts together cost around £60, but if anyone can make use of it I'd be happy to take £25 + delivery. Or you could have the cab + speaker for a cool £100 - bargain! See photos (note, the cab is complete in the pics, so you have to imagine it with a few bits missing!) 7. Sadly, not on a position to buy anything at the moment, but these are fabulous instruments. I have a Clifton Mini Upright, and would be seriously tempted to go for the full sized version if funds allowed ... definitely a good buy!
8. If you haven't already come across them, check out the Clifton upright & mini-upright. http://www.cliftonbasses.co.uk/ Fabulous hand made uprights by Mo Clifton in Blackheath. I've been playing a mini-upright for the last year (short scale length, just a bit longer than a 1/4 size DB) and it's as close to a real DB sound as I've heard from an EUB. His standard upright is a regular 3/4 size & even more striking to look at. They're made to order, and for what they are, very good value - although from what you've said, probably a bit out of your price range at the moment ... worth waiting for though - took me over 10 years from when I first saw & heard one till I could afford to get one! Oh, and Mo's a really nice guy too, and makes some great bass guitars & other things as well.
9. ***** STILL AVAILABLE ***** Didn't have any takers last time round, so trying again ... Maybe the price was a bit high, so have decided I will accept £570 + shipping if you want it delivered ... It really is a fabulous instrument, I'm just not playing it and I have some other things to pay for
10. I bought this pignose new in the early 1990s - serial no is 92/1018, which I'm guessing means it was made in 1992 which seems about right. It's been used very little & always at home, which means it's virtually mint, apart from a bit of dust & one of the strap buttons is now held in place by a nut & bolt rather than the original rivet (I had to do this soon after I bought it, but in fact it's an improvement). They're going on eBay for around £80 to £100 as far as I can tell. Happy to take £75 including delivery, or will consider trade (+/- cash difference) for compact guitar combo (for home practice) - decent quality, e.g. fender, vox, marshall etc.
11. Good point about the strings - Status black nylons sell direct from their website at £16.99 a set (4-string) - a relative bargain in the bass string world! I fitted a new set a few months back (40 - 100 gauge) - they are also available in 45 - 105 gauge.
12. Thinking about selling my Status Electro, as I'm not really playing it much these days. It has been my main bass for the last 2 or 3 years, but I started on EUB a few months ago, which gives me the acoustic sound that I originally got the Status for, so I'm now using my Jazz as my main BG as this gives a nice contrast with the EUB. The Electro is a beautiful bass, and is a much more acoustic-inspired guitar than the typical Status. The Mark 1 is fitted with just a piezo pickup (later version have piezo plus magnetic), which coupled with the black nylon flatwounds gives a really warm acoustic tone, but with enough punch & clarity to cut through a mix. I use it in a line-up with acoustic guitar, mandolin, vocals and drums, and it sits perfectly. It's also very well balanced & very light - I have no problems playing 2 to 3 hours in an evening & still don't feel it. I bought it used from Andertons in Guildford 2 or 3 years ago, and I've never seen another one, so I'm a bit unsure as to their value. The current version (Mark 3 I think) retails for around £1650 (last I looked), so I'm thinking around £650 ... comes with original Status gig bag, but that's a bit flimsy, so I'm happy to throw in a heavier duty Ritter or similar bag too. Prefer collection, but will investigate shipping if required.
13. Selling this mint Ashdown Mag 300 head. Bought about a month ago to cover a couple of gigs while waiting for a replacement for my iAmp micro, which I now have, so I need to sell the Ashdown on again. It's in absoultely mint condition. The guy I bought it from bought it new in Sept last year & had never gigged it, just used it in the studio. I gigged it twice, at nice clean parties ... so it's still perfect. I don't have the original receipt, but I do have the delivery note dated 15/9/2009. Looking to recover what I bought it for which was £170 + delivery (let me know if you want it shipped & I'll gat a price) It's going on ebay at the weekend, so grab it now. Photos below ...
14. *** PRICE DROP *** Now willing to accept £245 inclusive of UK mainland delivery.
15. ... forgot the important bits ... Cab is 405 x 405 x 400 mm (approx 16in cube) & weighs about 16kg
