1. Haha no!! Cash is my preference
2. I'm selling my immaculate Ray34 Natural finish (the more expensive ones)with black scratchplate, 4- string. 3-Band active eq. Never gigged or smoked around. No chips, dings or marks of any kind. Plays really well and has just been strung up with brand new GHS Flea's. Comes with original softcase (also as new) and Sterling by Musicman stickers AND the truss rod key. I also will put a new 9v battery in. Big fat, punchy, cutting hi-fi Stingray sound Cost me £600 a year ago. the only minor downside is the input jack is a *little* loose. This is an easy 2 minute tighten up job, i just never got round to it as quite frankly i'm too lazy Looking for £400 Collection only from Chipping Norton please. Bring an amp too as I am currently amp-less. Thanks for looking!
3. I own a natural finished SBMM Ray 34 i would say the sound, look and feel is spot on. I a/b'ed against a couple of real Ray's when i was looking to buy a ray type bass and there was minimal difference IMO. The quality of it is fairly impressive too, the standard of the Ash grain is better than a fair few real EBMM Ray naturals ive seen too. Go for it! they are great basses.
4. The nut on mine is also the same.

Geddy Lee Jazz

I can't recommend the Geddy Lee highly enough. The one i had was faultless (damn you circumstance!) Fit and finish was excellent. The pickups were quiet and really old school sounding with that big fat punchy growl. I never had any issues with the neck on it in the year i owned it either. It stayed in tune probably better than any bass ive ever owned too! I'd have another in an instant (funds permitting!)
6.
I don't see the reason for your apparent hilarity... ??
i thought your comment about robbing sales quite rightly was very true and amusing! .That is all. . .
7.
There's a review in the reviews section. Yes, these are excellent basses and they're going to do the same as the SUB range did, which is rob sales from the parent brand. And quite rightly so
Hahahaha!
8. I would have no issues with buying a Korean Corvette (or any Warwick) at all, my only issue comes from the fact the price won't/wouldn't be changed at all to mirror the lowered production costs!
9. I have to disagree. Having played a couple of S.U.B's before i bought a SBMM Ray 34 i have to say as good as the SUBS were, the SBMM felt much more like a real stingray in feel and sound and looks.
10. It is currently strung up with ernie ball super slinky's 045- 100. It's the second set i've put on as i like the tone (while it lasts). At my band practices the G cuts through using the Trace Elliot 1048 running at 300w. One thing that i've noticed after having a closer examination of the setup is that the nut is cut very low on the G-string, and the G is set lower than any of the others, maybe this has something do with it? I also use a full bass boost and a notch of extra treble, leaving the mids flat on the preamp. Leaving the amp flat bar a touch of extra bass. I think its just another Ernie ball 'quirk' like the G string not being inline with the center of the polepiece! Smashing basses though.
11. I find this thread quite interesting as my SBMM Ray 34 has no problem whatsoever on the G string. Its even and loud and full of life. Some people say that theirs are dead and others claim to have never experienced this problem. If it is a manufacturing (or design) defect i would imagine that every Stingray would suffer from it? Its quite puzzling either way.
12. Thanks for the input guys, very helpful and appreciated. I will email ashdown about sending it back to be replaced. I've already seperated the head from the chassis, hopefully that should bring postage costs down a bit. The electric blue is such a good little combo i cant bear to part with it!! Thanks again people.
13. How ironic given my avatar!!
14. Ashdown replied to me stating it sounds like a dodgy transformer so you guys were right on the money! any idea what i would be looking at cost wise to repair?
15. My 2005 Electric Blue 15-180 states ''manufactured in the UK'' on the back.
16.
Could be a power supply problem, but just to clarify are you replacing the fuse underneath where the power cable connects into the amp? If so are you using the correct time-delay fuse?
Yes it is where the cable connects to the amp. I swapped the fuse that had blown for a identical replacement (T2AL 250V) 5 years of flawless service from the amp and this is the first thing to ever go wrong with it!
17. The lead is in as new condition and ive even tried it with my ps3!, it works without blowing that up i think your right, im not trying the amp again through fear of being fried!
18. It originally blew at the practice rooms, i replaced the fuse and tried it at home and it did the same thing. Do you think it could be the actual power cable itself maybe?? Cheers
19. The 250v fuse that is actually in the connection on the amp keeps blowing. I put a new one in, it blows as soon as i turn the amp on, having gone through 3 fuses now, what does anyone think this could be???? i need to sort pronto!! Many thanks guys
20. had 4 or 5 people enquire but i'll still give it one final BUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
21. For me it didnt bother me one bit paying £600 for the ray 34. I did look at secondhand American Stingrays but the decent ones were all hovering around £700 plus. By buying the Ray 34 i more or less got the same thing in a finish/colour that i wanted (as opposed to waiting ages for the right one to appear in the right colour) and with a years warranty. Plus it was new!! it means it soul will always be mine!! mwah hahahaha!!!!!
22. My Warwick Pro Fet 3.2 head and Wca 410 Pro cab have to go!! Its the 4ohm cab so it means the head pumps out the full 300watts. Owned from new since 2007, more or less unmarked, never ever pushed to the max. Onboard Compressor, contour switch (for slapping) bright and deep boost, mute switch, ground lift, etc etc. Had tonnes of compliments form other Bass players the times i have gigged it, weirdly enough it was the same compliment, its powerful and very clean with it. Criminally underrated amps, mine is louder and cleaner at volume than an Ashdown Mag 300 and tonally is a lot punchier and growlier than most around this bracket. Cost me £500 new in April 2007 Will take £275 and not a penny under!!! buyer to collect (from Chipping Norton) due to weight of the items.
