1. The Carl Martin Opto Compressor is a great pedal at the price and works very well on bass. Given that most quality bass compressors cost upwards of £130, the Carl Martin is a bit of a bargain. We've got them in stock and, if you're going to this weekend's London Bass Guitar Show, we'll have them on our stand to try out. We'll also have its bigger brother, the Carl Martin Compressor/LImiter.
  2. There are a few power supplies with both AC and DC outputs all of which tend to be at the top end of the market. However, the Electro Harmonix Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai requires DC power, not AC. Feel free to drop us a line or give us a call if you need some specific advice.
  3.
If it makes you feel any better, I also ordered on Sunday and am still waiting as well! The last pedal I bought that got sent via Royal Fail took 2 weeks to arrive...
Don't worry, they were sent by courier. We can check tracking information for your order if you contact us with your order number.
  4. Hi Guys, Please accept our apologies for the delay in some of you receiving your orders. All B3's are being sent out free of charge on a next day delivery service and the vast majority of them have been. Unfortunately, due to human error, those who ordered over the weekend or during the day on Monday were sent out on a slower service. These should normally arrive within 2 days but, having checked tracking today, not all have arrived. If anyone has been affected, please contact us with your order number and we will offer a good will refund of £5.00 for the inconvenience. Anyone else placing an order will receive next day delivery free of charge. Sorry guys. We try hard to get things right. Very occasionally we don't and I'm sorry if it's affected any plans to use the pedal at gigs and/or rehearsals. We know how exciting it can be waiting for a new bit of kit to arrive. Hopefully the wait will be worthwhile as the B3 is a great pedal. Thanks for your understanding. Richard
  5.
Just ordered one. Hopefully there's one there for me
Yes, we've still got some left though, the way things are going, they're not going to last long!
  6.
Thanks for this Richard... what's the Markbass amp sim like? Authentic? And does it recreate the VLE and VPF filters? Thanks!
I spent just a short time with each model or effect. Those that really impressed me I spent a bit longer with. From memory, the Markbass model was warm and clean and in the right ballpark. To me, Markbass is as 'voiced' as GK or Ampeg, for example, so, when going through another (real) amp, the accuracy of the modelled amp is not so noticeable. I would think there would be more obvious differences when DI'd. As has been stated above, no VLE or VPF. You could program an EQ pedal in one of the slots to recreate what they do though that would take up another 'slot' leaving only one other for an effect.
  7. OK guys, here's my (very brief) first impressions. This unit is better than it has any right to be at the price point. I haven't spent long with it, but the quality shines through. Obviously I was already familiar with the G3 and many things remain the same. It is refreshingly well tailored for bass and the effects are very usable. There are some very good compressors from subtle to squish. All of the overdrives, distortions and fuzzes have clean blends. And the amp sims sound good. I didn't take any notes so the ones that stand out in my mind as I write this are: 1) The Bass Big Muff: not only is it an accurate reproduction of the original, it also solves the volume issue with the clean blend. Very simply there is a separate parameter for clean level one top of the standard gain and level controls. 2) Sansamp model includes 'mid' frequency to avoid the sometimes too-scooped Sansamp sound. To me ears, though, the Ampeg SVT amp model sounded more 'Ampeggy' than the Sansamp. 3) The Gallien Krueger model sounded great and stood out for me among all the amp models. 4) Clean blended Rat anyone? Sounds very good. 5) Modulations sound good. A good variety of choruses/phasers etc so sure to be one that you'll like At £150, this is priced almost at 'beginner' level yet one could gig it quite happily. Sure, individual pedals will always win out (I hope so, or we're out of business ) but, for the money, this is brilliant. All the features of a Line 6 M9, tailored for bass and priced lower than the Line 6 M5. It's a winner!
  8.
Looking forward to it - both the pedal and the initial thoughts Richard, is it too late to change the delivery address: I stupidly gave my work address and of course tomorrow is Saturday
No, just give us a call or send us an e-mail with your order number and the address you want it sent to.
  9.
Also guys, I've ordered from effectpowersupplies before and got a really good customer service experience from them, so they definitely deserve our business
Thanks for that Chris - we appreciate it. Just to update you all, the B3's arrived first thing this morning and are NOW IN STOCK! Those who have already placed orders should be getting theirs tomorrow. We've still got a few left from the first shipment for anyone else. I've got a busy day ahead of me but I'll try to grab 5 minutes to put one through its paces. If I do I'll post my thoughts here. Thanks, Richard
  10.
Is there a way you can turn off the pre-amp Sims and use just the effects so I can simply use it in my effect loop? Don't really fancy running anything infront of my amp's pre-amp.
Yes, the amp sims, if selected, occupy one of the three effects 'slots'. So, you can have one amp sim and two effects running simultaneously or three effects and no amp sims. Or, if you really wanted, three amp sims and no effects - not sure I'd recommend that! There is no differentiation between the amp sims and the effects in terms of selecting them. I hope that helps!
  11. Hi Guys, I'm pleased to inform you that I got a call from Zoom today. The B3's are arriving in the country TODAY! We should have stock tomorrow! We've got them at £149.99 including a free (UK) power supply. Stock is limited. Here's a link: http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/zoom-b3-bass-guitar-multi-effects-pedal---free-delivery-1833-p.asp Cheers! Richard
  12.
This goes to 15v, not sure of ampage though... http://www.effectpow...--15v-654-p.asp PM fxpedal.co.uk and ask.
Thanks for the recommendation. Unfortunately that's an AC rather than DC power supply so won't work for the OP. 15V is very difficult but, depending on the actual pedal, it may be fine at 12V or 18V. I would advise checking with the manufacturer of the pedal.
  13. Hi guys, As most of you have surmised, this is the bass version of the Zoom G3 guitar processor. For those unfamiliar with the G3, it is very similar in functionality and concept to the Line 6 M9. It is incredibly intuitive to operate and all major functions can be worked out without reference to the manual. Just like the Line 6 'M' units, the controls mimic single pedals so it is easy to make on-the-fly adjustments. With regards to shipping, information is scant at the moment but we are expecting it during the first quarter of 2012. I hope that helps! Richard
  14. You could look at the Carl Martin Octaswitch or Combinator. They're loop switchers but don't have anywhere near the features of the GigRig ones. Then again, the price is significantly lower. But you specifically mention that you are attracted to the unique features of the GigRig switchers so I doubt you would be satisfied with the Carl Martin options. If you decide to go either the Carl Martin or GigRig route, let us know and we may be able to sort something out for you.
  15. We sell both George L's and Lava Cable. Since we've taken Lava Cable into stock, we are selling a lot more of them than George L's. The plugs on George L's are small. Those on Lava Cable are half the size! The quality of both kits is excellent but the smaller plugs and slightly lower price of Lava Cable is swinging it for most people.
  16.
Not cheap at £155, but if it's good...
We're doing them for £120. We've got them in stock. And yes, it's good!
  17.
Hey guys, had another thread on here that I was interested in the Ibby Pro 1x10 but I just noticed these! Hadn't heard or seen anything about them! Anyone tried one yet? http://www.gak.co.uk/en/ibanez-promethean-...r-cabinet/48941 Connor
Hi Connor, These cabs are not being imported into the country by the UK distributor for Ibanez. Richard
  18.
the most exciting new feature is that its true bypass, which is kinda lame for a 5th generation product. what i'd really like to see is a user defined harmony mode. wouldnt be that hard to implement
That may be a bit harsh! Aside from the drop-tune functions and momentary switch, the new Whammy is polyphonic. While we are yet to try the pedal, it is highly likely that, like other polyphonic octave pedals such as the EHX Pog or T-Rex Octavius, the tracking will be almost perfect.
  19. Do you get hum when you have all the pedals other than the Tone Press connected to the power supply with the Tone Press running on battery? If the answer is 'no', then a GigRig Virtual Battery will solve the problem. Otherwise it may point to the power supply. The safest option would be one of the brick style power supplies like the T-Rex Fuel Tanks, Carl Martin Pro Power, Modtone Power Plant etc. all of which are, I'm afraid, more expensive.
  20.
Ooh tempting - nice price too. Do you keep a few in stock?
Our normal stock profile includes the P5110 combo, the P500 head and the P110c extension cab. At the moment, the extension cab is on back order with Ibanez until around August time. We have the 1x10 combo and the head in stock right now and, assuming they're in stock with Ibanez, we can get the 2x10 combo and/or the larger cabs very easily. Give us a ring to discuss if you wish.
  21.
Any ideas on who actually stocks the Promethean so I can check one out? Ideally in the north west as that's where I'm based...cheers
We're not in the North West but we carry the Promethean in stock if you ever find yourself in London. If you take Derren up on his kind offer and like the amp, we deliver nationwide for free.
I really fancy a P5110 but I'm kinda put off by stuff I've read on TB about problems some people have had with them powering up. The posts are quite old so do you think it was a dodgy batch or is it something Ibanez have fixed since?
We've not had any back with this problem nor heard about it from other dealers. I suspect may have been an issue with the very first batch in the States. They didn't ship to the UK until quite some time after they had been available across the pond.

    Line 6 M5
The pedal also sits on 4 rubber feet which prevents easy velcro mounting to a pedalboard which is what I was intending to do.
Hi Gareth, there is a screw in the middle of each of the rubber feet. Simply unscrew each one, remove the rubber foot, put the screw back in and, hey presto, easy mounting onto your pedalboard! It's actually been designed that way to give you the choice of using it either as a standalone unit or mounting on a board.

    Line 6 M5
Yeah, let us know about the switching between effects, how many you can save and how quick you can go between them. I've got some stuff on e-bay to make room on the pedal board and am pretty sure I'm going to pull the trigger on one of these at the weekend.
There are 24 preset locations to which you can save any type of effect in any order. You can set the unit up to either change patch as you press the up or down footswitch (i.e. if you're using preset number 1 and want to go to preset number 3, you will press the down button twice but, as you pass through it, preset 2 will play momentarily), or you can set it up so you scroll through the presets with the up and down footswitch, but the sound doesn't change to the new preset until you press both footswitches together. That would allow you to go from preset 1 to, for example, preset 12 without any of the other presets in between 'sounding'. I hope that makes sense! Feel free to ask any other questions. Richard

    Line 6 M5
I can't beleive you've got these in stock already - I'm sure I read a Line 6 rep on a Talkbass thread only a few days ago confirming the rumour of it's existence but unable to give out any details. Plus it's not even listed on their website yet!
They were a bit of a surprise to us too when they turned up! We weren't expecting them to ship until the end of April. But we've got 'em! SK8's is already on its way to him.

    Line 6 M5
Does it still have the loop function? I love my M9 for giving me options around my core pedals, so i reckon this could be a useful little pedal. Whats the general price of it?
SK8 is correct - there is no looper. We're running a special Basschat offer and, the more people who take it up, the cheaper it will be. See here. Depending on how many people take up the offer it will cost you anything from £149.99 to £164.99 including free UK delivery. Gareth, re: the DL4/M5 dilemma, if you need a looper, get the DL4. Otherwise the M5 would appear to be a better bet as it has all the delay models from the DL4 plus all the other non-delay effects at a lower price and in a smaller footprint.
