2.
I think the problem with a lot of people is that they change instruments regularly, looking for 'the one',but I feel that an instrument only becomes 'the one' after you've played it for a while and know it inside out.
+1.
 3. Had one of these as my main / gigging / recording bass for a few years now. Fab bass - lightweight, well balanced, nice neck, good sound. Twice I've tried to "upgrade" to a more expensive bass, only to end up selling the new bass and returning to this. I got mine for £50 from a Crack Converters - one of the best musical purchases I've ever made.
 4. I always thought they were like Fisherman's Friend, but with funkier flavours.
 5. Hi all, For sale: Kustom KBA16 combo, in excellent condition. Easily loud enough for living room jams, or even gigs with acoustic instruments (and no drummer!). A 16W practice bass amp with: - Celestion 8" speaker - (Bass) guitar + CD inputs - 4 band EQ - Headphone out - Extension speaker out - W:16" D:10" H:13" - Weight 22lb (9.6kg) £25 collected from SE London. Possibly delivery could be arranged if you're close. My feedback thread: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=40763
 6. I used to have a Tascam 8 track, though a slightly different model, and it was a while ago so I may be misremembering. Is there a small slider-type selector switch (possibly on the back) that lets you change the input between Line / Guitar / Mic? If so, make sure it's set to 'mic'. Also make sure you've got the phantom power turned off - your SM57 won't like it.
 7.
ahrite well that does make sense. It is a shame though as it would be more useful if if they tuned to the same frequency
But if they did that, your bass / keyboard or whatever would only ever be really in tune in one key. The whole point of the equal temperament system is to allow us to play very nearly in tune in all keys. In return for that, we make do with being very slightly out of tune in all keys!
 8.
Thanks, EB. I should point out that the example was purely a metaphor for illustrative purposes and, in reality, I really coudn't give a rat's
Fair enough!
Not sure i understand, basically i was playing along to a keyboard and trying out some ideas with harmonics. It sounded fine just when i would go to play the harmonic on/ around the 4th fret. I know its the equivalent to the strings major 3rd. So i played my bass through the tuner and everything was bang on in tune except for these specific harmonics. The octave harmonics are fine both on the 12th and 5th fret, and the 5th on the 7th fret is fine. Just these major 3rd's are ever so slighty flat on the tuner.
Could this be an equal temperament issue? The harmonic will be a "pure" maj 3rd, while the keyboard will be tuned to equal temperament. Could this account for the discrepancy?
 9.
What are you measuring it with? If everything else is spot on, this is technically impossible But then again, so is flight in bumble bees!
Not this old chestnut again! 10. Not many people realise* that Mrs T is actually Suzi Quatro (Can the Can - Mrs Tinman - you see what she did there?), while skank is none other than former PM John Major. *mostly because I just made it up. Or did I?

 12.
I got the red strat (if you'd like some photos I might get them up in a couple of days) It looks pretty good, the neck is very much straight, the fretwoks is good and the tuners are decent (still in tune after a few of hours of messing around). Can't really comment on the pickups since I played it through the bass pod (which sounds horrible, but I haven't picked up a guitar pod), but output seems good and the pots are OK (no scratching). All in all, a lot of guitar for £60!
Cheers for that. I fancy one of the black LPs myself.
 13. Any more news/views of the 6-stringers? I don't need another bass, but I could do with a half-decent basic guitar for my studio.
 14. I can only play this version....
 15.
Found a liking for Bill evans on spotify tonight as well.
Excellent choice. I think he's probably my favourite jazz pianist. But sometimes it's Erroll Garner. Or Duke Ellington. Mostly, though, it's Bill.

 17.
So why do secondhand premium German Warwicks only seem to command less than a third of the new price, but people appear prepared to pay up to £700 for a secondhand Japan Fender Reissue. Make that nearly a grand with shipping and import duty if they source them from Japan. Fender could probably only manage about three or four of those bullets above.
ARE YOU SUGGESTING IT'S A WASTE OF TIM TO ADVERTISE WARWICKS ON BASSCHAT???
 18. Great stuff! From a recording pov, particularly impressed with the drum sound, given that it's someone's front room - how was the kit mic'ed up?
