Just recorded this for a friend. The new floor in the conservatory has given the room some great acoustics. Just a little bit of a longer piece but you get the idea!
What a fabulous sound.
This isn't a video either. I recorded it on a 4 track Fostex X-26 about 20 years ago. Drums were programmed on an Alesis HR16, bass was a Bass Collection SGC Nanyo DIed through a Marshall JCM900 twin combo, guitar was the same amp and an Aria Pro II super Strat with a Kahler. http://soundcloud.co...et-allowed-1992
I rather like that - especially the second half. You're really quite good at this guitar lark, aren't you?

I sold Thomas a Crate Powerblock amp. Nice guy, great comms, no problems. Deal in confidence.

I do find it annoying when newbies post their stuff for sale and then bump their ads several times a day - I see that as disrespectful to other forum users.
Come on Nige, thats comes across a bit condescending.
Only a bit? Must be one of his good days. -

I think it depends why you are playing. If you are trying to earn your living from music, then it might be worth sticking at the db because it's a rarer skill and may get you more paid gigs. If you are primarily playing for the love of it, then I'd say play the instrument(s) that you feel enthusiastic about.
I seem to recall a book called 'Canterbury Rock', but I can't remember any details about it... I'll Google it later, or maybe you can Len, I gotta go do the school run! Don't know about books, but I would strongly recommend also getting the "BBC - RADIO 1967 - 1971" CD compilation - worth it for the fabulous "Top Gear" live version of Moon in June alone. Also, Vol 2 is a brilliant album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L-Ylf4UV1w&feature=fvst

£33 to see what is really only a covers band
Earbrass replied to Blademan_98's topic in General Discussion
There is indeed a difference, but if you respect the original musician for his feel and technique, then a good copyist must also have very similar if not exactly the same feel and technique. Natch, he lacks the originality, but originality isn't part of the spec.
And that is why the comparison between tribute acts and a virtuoso violinist doesn't hold water - any classical musician worth his salt is not merely copying another musician's performance. -

Earbrass replied to Blademan_98's topic in General Discussion
As time goes by, the people who did the originals of what we like and grew up with either die or retire. If the music is any good it will pass into the category of "that which may be done by those good enough to do it". In exactly the same way as some musicians learn to play Mozart or Glenn Miller, so others will learn to reproduce Beatles, Stone, Floyd and other classics. That's already happening. Why berate a guitarist who does well at playing David Gilmour's guitar parts instead of writing his own? Do we put down a virtuouso violinist who's good at Vivaldi because he hasn't written his own concerti?
There's a huge difference between performing someone else's composition and slavishly copying someone else's performance. -

What is your favourite piece of music featuring a precision bass?

Love the way it goes from huge growl to sweet round tones and back on this one: And, featuring the most tasteful ten second bass solo ever at 3:30 - -
