1. Be good to hear more. Nice work.
2.
I'm sure that the majority of people that will turn up (which I'm guessing will be mostly teenagers)will instantly recognise it and be inspired.
OK then, how about the "Deal or No Deal" theme?
3. Lord Of Light (Hawkwind - Space Ritual) might be suitable. Good bass riff but pretty simple.
4. "To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world....” ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Perhaps it's not about waiting for "the one" to appear, but about making the one you have "the one" by getting to know it inside out.
5. I think there's a lot to be said for sticking with one instrument as far as possible - getting so familiar with its feel and sounds that you forget the instrument and concentrate on the music.
6. Try asking this chap?
7.
Just recorded this for a friend. The new floor in the conservatory has given the room some great acoustics. Just a little bit of a longer piece but you get the idea!
What a fabulous sound.
This isn't a video either. I recorded it on a 4 track Fostex X-26 about 20 years ago. Drums were programmed on an Alesis HR16, bass was a Bass Collection SGC Nanyo DIed through a Marshall JCM900 twin combo, guitar was the same amp and an Aria Pro II super Strat with a Kahler. http://soundcloud.co...et-allowed-1992
I rather like that - especially the second half. You're really quite good at this guitar lark, aren't you?
8. I sold Thomas a Crate Powerblock amp. Nice guy, great comms, no problems. Deal in confidence.
9. I do find it annoying when newbies post their stuff for sale and then bump their ads several times a day - I see that as disrespectful to other forum users.
10.
Come on Nige, thats comes across a bit condescending.
Only a bit? Must be one of his good days.
11. I think it depends why you are playing. If you are trying to earn your living from music, then it might be worth sticking at the db because it's a rarer skill and may get you more paid gigs. If you are primarily playing for the love of it, then I'd say play the instrument(s) that you feel enthusiastic about.
12. Bump for final price drop before the 'bay.
13. Sold Ron a Boss Drum machine. Instant payment, good comms, no problems. Recommended.
14. Knowing when to stop.
15.
Bumop
Oooh, nasty. Hope the surgeons were gentle.
16. One of these just sold on ebay for £125 + £10 p+p - grab yourself a bargain!
17.
I seem to recall a book called 'Canterbury Rock', but I can't remember any details about it... I'll Google it later, or maybe you can Len, I gotta go do the school run!
How's your Italian? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canterbury-Rock-Robert-Machine-Hillage/dp/123262750X/ref=as_li_wdgt_js_ex?&linkCode=wsw&tag=bumblebeecons-21
18. Don't know about books, but I would strongly recommend also getting the "BBC - RADIO 1967 - 1971" CD compilation - worth it for the fabulous "Top Gear" live version of Moon in June alone. Also, Vol 2 is a brilliant album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L-Ylf4UV1w&feature=fvst

20.
There is indeed a difference, but if you respect the original musician for his feel and technique, then a good copyist must also have very similar if not exactly the same feel and technique. Natch, he lacks the originality, but originality isn't part of the spec.
And that is why the comparison between tribute acts and a virtuoso violinist doesn't hold water - any classical musician worth his salt is not merely copying another musician's performance.
