Best thing to do is take up residence in the luthier's workshop and just sit there, all day, every day, chanting "Is it nearly done yet, is it nearly done yet, is it nearly done yet , is it nearly done yet" quietly to yourself whilst rocking gently back and forth, gripping a chisel.....
Trust me Jim would just make me glue stuff,or hoover up or something. The 4 year wait for the Carl Thompson, was Jims 6 string Fretless,36" scale, and yeah it was THAT FC+%ING good an instrument,woodwork..the bass has like best bridge you have ever seen ebony top...random woods. Proof enough that wood dosent mean much squat when it comes to instruments tone, the Bass strings B was and is amazing.

 9. Ok,I have a condition called impatiance, and its driving me mad,I REALLY REALLY want my 9...like yesterday, and I know the timescale now till completion, and its like rehab or something. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips to stave off the symptoms, being such as vocalizations (" I want my 9" "Why is it taking soooooo long") shaking, high pulse whenever I see exotic woods or pictures/vids or ERB players, constant noodling and downtuning of my fretless's B string. Any tips to stave off the cravings? I touched the fingerboard yesterday.....ohhh..(faints)

 11. First of all,I like to bring myself to a gig, usually in a car or maybe on long hauls a van,I like to travel to the venue and go through the doors to get to the stage area, maybe walking up some steps if the stage is raised. Bass, cables,DI box,Batteries,Wire cutters and screwdriver set, mini torch,Rig,Strings, maybe an extra Bass on important gigs, bar towel, spare T-shirt and undies if theres a foam cannon about. Dont buy any floor unit thats encased in plastic,it just cant take the rigors of regular gigging.
 12. I disagree about active basses and the beginner, its often a bit confusing with all those extra knobs and switches and batteries to be delt with on actives, plus cheaper basses tend to have a poorer quality and componants and therfor sound than what we are used to,as hearing on record,by are 'heros'. I say if you are a fan of slapping, and thats the route you want to take, then a Fender Jazz,be it Yank,Mex or Jap,is ,I feel the right direction to take, spares and replacment upgrade hardware are/is easy to fix and find, and as tastes change (as they will) its an easy instrument to trade with or modify.

 15.
I'm sorry to hear that! When you get it back..sell it!! Rovers are bad news in my experience But then again I spent a decade building Fords, so what do I know
Rover keys are a bitch to cut, they fly out of the machines jaws an once one speared me in the neck,Sorry to say it but good riddance. I agree about the cirrus, more over the Yamaha stuff.
 16.
i never see ne1 playing a peavey
Dave Ellefson the ex Megadeth guy. John Taylor of Duran Duran was using them at the Diana gig.
 17.
I think that's an absolutely perfect description 'Organic' would be the word I would use to describe the way Warwicks sound and play. As to 'cool' and 'different'...that's subjective. Compared to half the stuff I see out there, the average Warwick looks pretty conservative to me.
I dont really like the feel of Warwicks, and havent done for years,Just something isnt right for me... Except for the Dolphin, ever since they stopped using solid wenge necks and 'something' happened years ago to the electronics 10+ years back?? And they did nick a Spector design for the body of one of they're models (Its now liscenced). But they are as common as Fenders, the number of endorsee's is miles long ,and its VERY rare you see a Jools prog or a festival on TV without at least one being used (I remember the souldeep tv prog that had Warwicks outnumbering the Fenders) Its usually using corvette 5s or Thumb 6s through Hartke rigs. Metal/Jazz/Funk/Soul/Blues...Warwicks are everywhere, I think they have a good B string tone, compared to Fender (Who I dont think have cracked the 5 string sound yet,and I dont think ever will! And therefore get used by session players because they as 5+ string are more, better, adaptable to the many situations. (Another reason why I feel the 4 string is becoming obsolete) I guarentee you have at least 3 or 4 lps in your collection that have a Warwick recorded or been used onstage by the artists Bassist. Or you could just watch more TV.
 18. I somedays think I should approach Tech 21. Do they endorse working stiffs like me?
 19.
I can't find your original post about your build ARGH, i took this pic at Music Live in Birmingham couple of years ago, is it anything like this?
Close, but Ive got 3 octaves of purpleheart fingerboard (fretted) and the body shape is quite different. Ive not created a build diary/thread,I dont see a reason to on this forum. But its beautiful, far more so than other instruments, given the unusual use of woods and design, its a refreshing step from 'safe' staid traditional "Only my way is best" or "You cant/shouldnt do that" attitudes Ive encountered. A naturally superior instrument. ^_^ is going to take a long time to master.
 20. I just found the tone, clean, unremarkable I understood why it was liked but?!?. Its not the worst amps or sound Ive ever played through,It was just the same reaction I had to Traces stuff,it just was not 'me'.
 21. Nice tone. WOuld have cranked him up in the mix (but I am biased)
 22. Actually If it had to be a dream Bass night. I would just watch Ron Carter. Solo alone,He has a great sound and tone Have a lesson from Percy Jones (Technique),then Anthony Jackson (Soul),then Jean Baudin (For his Tapping skills) I would jam with Yves Carbonne and Mick Karn. Then play the next day with the Band Ive already chosen.
 23. Bass & Vocals - Me Guitars - Robert Fripp Guitars - Reeves Gabrels Guitars - Pat Metheny Drums - Adrian Bird Keys/Cutups/Ideas co-ordination - Brian Eno Bass - Mick Karn/Percy Jones/Yves Carbonne or If it was upright Ron Carter
