2. Just be polite,straight..and direct. (and have a clear exit)
3. go on....do it.... You know you want to!
4.
Good news at last - found one at MB Music wherever they are - £524 delivered free - hoping it's here for Saturday now - fingers crossed.
Half the fun is hunting for what you want,as is half the pain.
5. Hand size is a bigger problem,Ive got mates who dwarf me in height, but Ive got larger hands...My left is 1/4 inch bigger than my right (Goalkeeper). Most Basses,in perticular vintage, aint balanced very well, head heavy. What is the biggest gripe...weight?....neck dimensions?.....
6.
what? the Sun, pulling someone's leg.... surely not! ..... is this the same room de-odorizer that boasts a three-fold-cyclic-scent-sensation? including a fragrance entitled "open window".... what the hell does an open window smell like anyway?!? I'm assuming they're not basing this scent on the smell coming through the average window in say, Grimsby for instance. Or even Wolverhampton for that matter! If I open my window I'm normally greeted by the stench of cat sh*t mixed with the high grade skunk that my neighbour likes to smoke whilst sat on MY wall!!! PS: don't call me Shirley!
My ambipur thingy would have to be directional....Chemical works....chocolate factory...maltings...sewage farm...depending on the windstrength and weather condition. Do you reckon ASDA stock that range!?
7.
So we should only express the most commonly-held opinion then?
I guess...... *Remind me to start a poll to see if I care.
8.
Thanks Steve - good idea I'm sorry you feel that way ARGH - but I disagree as far as it's possible to disagree, GK is, IMHO unbeatable for the money but I appreciate it's not everyone's cup of tea. Anyway, I defend your right blah blah..
Hey thanks Homer. Kudos to you, opinons are like navels,we all have them, and they all look different (Still think you are mad,but on many levels) I love you...lets have tea
9. I think you are mad for wanting a GK NiceGuyHomer.... Bar the little briefcase combo thing they do (Which sounded lovely and I would have no arguements buying) Ive played a quantity of what else they have and come to the conclusion that its utter toss. But I have to agree here, you have done the right thing! The 'We cant get it' is often a ruse for 'We cant be bothered because its a hassle....' But saying that its often true. (COUGH.....STATUS...Cough..)
10. The best way to learn how to cope with drop tunings,is to just play. I use 110-50 tuned to standard E,so dropping isnt a supertough problem for me (Ive dropped C for a tune or two onstage) But in the past Ive bought a 5 string set and tuned upward to D (ditching the G string) so we are talking 130-60. it was tonally a bit to bassy for me at the time, but given hindsight I would do that again. Any drastic change to a Bass, such as heavier/lighter sets of strings,and/or tuning changes, might call for an adjustment in setup of your whole instrument, not just a trussrod tweak.
11. My regret is a (what I found out years later) Satillite P-Bass copy It was an Ash bodied through neck, weighed a ton,and naffed my back up for life, mapleneck and fingerboard, brass nut,and gold lespaul style volume and tone controls...Dark stain,20 frets,PHAT bridge saddles and Schaller style machineheads,it sounded Raw and aggro,it fitted the Goth thing I had going at the time. I flogged it in College to some guy called Shane for an increased price, and bought an Aria Pro II fretless. It needed a new fingerboard...I would love to have it again! At nearly anyprice.
12. I really thought Gibson Thunderbirds, were going to sound kak,Everyone said they are unstable, blurry sounding...and just 'difficult' to use.. Played a few old and new alike,Genuinely liked all of them.
13.
16 years old. old pic =] but still rocking that bass. also playing a Fernandes 5 string. in the market for a Rickenbacker too =] amp is an Ampeg head through warwick cabs (a 12" and a 15") although i'm trading the cabs for a trace elliot 4x10 from the new range. I started work on my birthday, literally, the day I turned 16, and I haven't stopped since. So before anyone bitches that I'll be playing a rick and a stingray whilst I'm 16, that's cold hard money that I worked to get for myself, same as the money I bought my clothes with, and the money that's gonna buy me my car. My parents are kind enough to make me meals, give me a roof, and all the rest - i don't expect more from them.
At LAST THATS the right attitude. (Thumbs up)
14.
+1 for that. Haven't touched a drop or smoked or taken anything at all now for 18 months and every aspect of my life has improved - that certainly includes playing. Not only can I remember gigs but I play to an unbelievably higher level, play in three different bands 'cos I can now remember three sets easily and most importantly don't let myself or my bandmates down with shoddy drunken mistakes. and yes, I used to think I was sooo good on three bottles of wine per gig.
YOU dont know how much of a hassle it is for other musicians to get over the fact that I "DONT DRINK OR TAKE DRUGS".
15. Name:ARGH Age:29 Been playing:16 years(?) Style:Musician (Limitless) Likes:Playing an instrument that is labelled Bass Hates:People who think that is all it should do Thinks:Pidgeon Believes:If you feel it,do it,Staying still makes you a target,There are no excuses for limitation, build on it,try harder,Dont worry...its just sound. I play an instrument. I like to sing too. I put on a show. People like it. Cup of Tea? xxx
16. Ive been TOTALLY faced at gigs and played brilliantly,I have the film to prove it...other times its total trash. I just shut up and let the fingers move about. Now I dont drink, use drugs.....anything,I just cant, and I find Im a better player fullstop.
17. Take your mama by Scissor sisters..... Its SLAYED a wedding I did...instant modern classic. 'It aint over...' By Kravitz is a good quiet one to bring the smootches out. Dexys 'Geno' is a slab of good sonics, thats a floor filler...
I'd also like to know how well they work with 'the low strings'? and why hasn't a bass pickup version of the 'sustainer' pickups as used by the likes of Mr Vai, been created for the bass? - Probably the afore mention low frequency strings issue?
It has Pete steele has one in his Fernandes Bass, but is HUGE!

Ok Ive seen Manring and I think Steve Lawson using one... Anyone else on here???
20. I must say ,for me,Theres nothing attractive about a female at the end of a gig that stinks of Stella and 20 fags. Anyone shallow enough to swoon over a coversband, kinda makes me raise an eyebrow. Yeah that was a tad harsh but Ive had my run ins with groupies and the 'Oh you play guitar amazing' type (Its not a Guitar..its a Bass). Im past that sh*t now, love me for what I am,not what you think I may be.! patent a serial killer stare and women and men leave you alone.... Does make it hard to get help lifting gear at gigs though.
21.
guitar pedals are generally ok for a mess-about but rob the bottom end
That depends on the effect.
