  1. I’ve just bought this back after having sold it a couple of years ago, but my wife’s car needs money spending on it to get it through its MOT so it has to go to pay for the repairs. Body: chambered alder with flamed maple top and back Neck: 21-fret (plus zero fret) hard rock flamed maple with rosewood fingerboard, blocks, and vintage white binding Scale length: 34" Headstock: originally matching, it was subsequently refinished by JP Guitars, Bristol. Nut width: 45mm Tuners: Hipshot USA Ultralites Pickups: Delano PC 5 AL/M2 (neck) and JC 5 AL (bridge) Controls: Volume, volume, tone; push-pull on the tone for both pickups in series. Bridge: Gotoh 205B-5, 18m spacing (it was originally a Hipshot when I had it). Weight: 3.585kg, and perfectly balanced - a real pleasure to play. Strings: LaBella flats Fender hardcase Some info from the previous owner that I would not have noticed or known about if it wasn't pointed out -> It also arrived with stripped neck screws; these have been replaced. Truss rod works correctly in both directions. N.B. Maruszczyk truss rods are clockwise to loosen and anti-clockwise to tighten (i.e. against convention). There are a couple of small marks on the body, one of which has been painted over (see photos).
  2. Probably a 5 string double bass, Maruszczyk Jake PJ 5 and my own creation, a RickenExplorerBird 5. Ashdown ABM500 and Eden XLT410
  3. It says it's an EastCoast but it is identical in every way to the Stagg version, so I assume they were made in the same factory at the same time. Very good condition. Comes with arm rest, stand, case, bow and roisin. Since injuring my hand earlier this year it's too difficult for me to play now, so I'm hoping someone else can make use of it. Type: Electric upright double bass Size: 3/4 Top: Solid maple Neck: Solid maple Bridge: Ebonized hardwood Nut: Plastic, black Machine heads: P-bass style, diecast, nickel Electronics: Volume and bass control Low battery indicator 3.5 mm (1/8") stereo mini jack input for phone or MP3 player 3.5 mm (1/8") mini jack output for headphones 6.35 mm (1/4") jack output Accessories included: Gigbag, bow, roisin, stand Colour: White/Cream

  4. You sold it to me as well, but can’t remember who bought it from me. Sorry.
  5. I think that might have originally been mine but when I had it the headstock was matched to the body - the next owner had the headstock stripped back to natural. If I had the money I'd have it back straight away. It was one of those 'why did I sell it' basses. GLWTS
  6. I've had one of these. One of those 'regret I sold it'. So wish I could afford this. GLWTS.
  7. I had one for a while and I'm afraid I sold it because it felt and sounded 'too sterile'. I know that is a subjective feeling so I hope you enjoy yours.
  8. Looks like 4Kg on the bathroom scales.
  9. Squier Vintage Modified 5 string Precision - made in Indonesia. New flats and recently set up. Fender logo’d gig bag Only selling as I injured two of my fingers in a saw, and I need to sell all my stuff to pay the bills whilst they repair. I’ve always tried to avoid Fender shaped basses (I like to be different , but I really do like this bass. It just feels and sounds ‘right’.
  10. No idea, sorry. I have difficulty enough playing root notes
  11. Made in Italy. The covering in a bit 'fluffy'. I'm assuming the last owner used a lot of velcro on it, but it works perfectly. I bought this last year but as I'm not in a band and have just stuck 2 of my fingers into a circular saw, I need to sell my stuff to pay the bills.
  12. I've had this up for sale before but couldn't bring myself to sell it, but I've just introduced 2 of my fingers to an electric circular saw so am unable to work for several weeks (and being self employed, means the bills have got to be paid by selling my gear). It's got a Schaller 3d 5 string bridge and a hipshot ultralight extra tuner. I've also changed the position of the strap button so it hangs better. It has a Gibson hard case and the original bridge if wanted.
  13. Identical to the Stagg EUB. I'm afraid I don't have the screw in 'brackets' on the side. Comes with fur lined carry case (and a stand, if required). I've just exchanged this with someone for the 5 string conversion one I had as I thought this might be easier to sell. The reason for selling - I've never got round to playing it live and I've just introduced 2 of my fingers to an electric circular saw, and being self employed and now not able to work for a few weeks, everything has to go to pay the bills.
  14. Yup, it's a 'common' thing to do (plus I think Rick themselves did something very similar back in the day ie. just added the tuner. I don't think a complete refinish is necessary for a tuner hole though. The bridge is in the same place and someone who knew what they were doing could match in the tuner hole quite easily if you wanted showroom condition.
  15. It's been so long since I had a 4003 that I don't remember the difference in sound. I think Bass Bross has a 4004 in at the moment. I understand that the 4004L (this one) is a little brighter than the 4004C (but don't quote me on that). What I can say is that they are far, far more comfortable to play than the 'traditional' 4001/3.
  16. DR Downtune strings - designed for what it says on the tin
  17. I found the bridge on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203709875867?var=504146879934 - string spacing is 15mm. The nut is 43mm I tried the Schaller 5 string bridge but the spacing was too wide for the neck, so that ended up on my non-reverse Thunderbird. Hope that helps
  18. I bought this bass a couple of years ago and had it converted to a 5 string. I absolutely adore it in every way possible, but finances are dire at the moment, so this &/or my Gibson non-reverse thunderbird 5 string conversion have to go It comes with the official Rickenbacker hard case I can fit the original Schaller 3d bridge and the brass nut it came with as well as putting a dowel in the tuner hole and painting this (though the paint wont look like it did from the factory) if you want it converted back to a 4 stringer. I'll be devestated that both of these basses have to go, but needs must.
  19. No, sorry. Could meet at South Mimms Services at top of M25 (2 1/4 hours for you and 1 3/4 hours for me) for some diesel money.......
  20. I've had two 5 stringed ones and stupidly sold them both. Loved them (especially the road worn one) Now i want another one buit I'm skint :((((((((
  21. Sorry no. I sold mine and now have a 4004L converted to a 5 stringer but it doesn’t have a pick guard and I’ve a triangular rickenbacker 5 string pickup in my explorer / Thunderbird homemade hybrid.
