1. S'funny....i was thinking what great timing mr sting has only yesterday....walking in the moon...simple tune....but i find the timing so hard.
2. Cracking basses, super light and sustain to die for... ive have the white and aircraft grey version....although i kept my A2 and sold my fender! good luck... ps. battery covers from yamaha uk!
3. Try a bit of smooth and turrell.. think its called coal funk! Cracking bass player!
4.
No that was Steve Barnacle, not Derek Forbes....
cheers
5. That's Derek Forbes of "You'll never take me alive"????...one of my favorite songs ever, with some of the most sublime fretless I've heard? They are to the best of my knowledge still gigging too
6.
I only heard one obvious mistake. The slapping.
7. Not the best recording, granted.... but then this guys not having the best day on his bass.....poor guy even gets the 'evils' at 23 seconds in from the guitarist! ....and a puka BOGOF....this could also be posted in the crappy basstone thread, makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Atk3Twn1Ur4
8. this Macca gem slipped me by, very busy melodic bassline, I don't think it's one of his well known ones being very early on Please Please Me. ....but as usual it seems to be a 'Beatles' flavoured key...Em I think (mostly!)...anyone else want to hazzard a guess as to the key...don't say G ...there a strange bit, unless I'm playing it wrong, at the "woh-oh-oh"....my Beatles chords book has this as G#m7/Gm7/F#m7 and then Am7 but C sounds better on bass, not sure why...C would be the flat 3rd in that chord? anyway have a bang on this... this guy does it very well. 9. Funk me sideways
10. Special deluxe model ooh nice, i had its sister jazz.. this is active too? I cant see a battery cover..but my eyes are old now!
11. Got a customer on Zetec 1.8 gasolene @ 10:30...I think I will him straight off as part of scientific endeavour if he plays "4 or 5 strings?"....may cause confusion if he's doesn't read BC though!
12. I'm sure this must of been posted before, but I've seen no mention of it? Anyway had a quick noodle and wow, yes it does work'ish enough to be a very useful tool? But then I thought - and being an upright pillar of the community - is it erm err, you know....straight, legal, 'grey' or downright moody.... sales of songsheets etc?
13. Always x1000 use the correct oil pete...its expensive for a reason...wrong oil gums up iinternal oil feeds and returns.....then turbo ingests itself thru lack of lubrication..... a lot of the problem is independant garages cutting corners...10w40 being up to a quarter of the cost.....very good car otherwise....very cheap warranty price (for a modern diesel) says more than i can.
14. "Is that your focus"?
15. Ive just taken a nick out my of my rh forefinger tip...the pain is out of all proportion to the injury....i feel your pain!
16. Why focii? because bass players are a knowledgable, well informed, intelligent breed.. .just avoid the 'kiss of death' 1.6 diesels! Although ive bought and sold hundreds of focii my current 'squeeze' is an old london taxi....diesel auto people carrier huge area in the back....i would think they make a reasonable tour bus. only 5 or so left in london....prices on the rise.
17. Hmm...neck dive....ive seen this comments too, on 4 strings....to be fair these can be bought for as low as 230 bucks across the pond though
18. Remove the rose tinted googles.....newer the better from what i saw last autumn....sure old is romantic...in the same same way as old car is....QC has got better and better....they really are built well now ....there were enough critics when those old 'uns were new, so now they are years older with wear and tear they aint gonna be any better....those original critics are a now older, wiser and playing newer P's.... runs for cover.....
19. Honeybursts from may/june but with rosewood...damn
20. So would anything over a minor be incorrect....its always back to the relative major?
21. 1. thumb rest for lefties.
22. Thats good news. Is the maple only on black body?
23. oooh! as peppa pig would say, real rock and rolls pyrotechnic burns.....looks more like a proper old banger to me
24.
Thanks for the advice, but I have decided to give the paint to my mate who is a panel beater, and one of the guys he works with is going to spray it for me.
Good call, your lungs will thank you for that
25. You know like the one posted below....I've been reading more a than few tales from across the pond of distorted sounds, possible pre-amp clipping issues even at low gains?..... whats the view over this side, just a bad batch, total baloney (or polony being US) or are they a good cheap single H bass? ....some good prices around, the 'walnuts' seem to be the cheapest, seen new for a little over £265? Seem to be a far more Stingay'ey than an OLP ever was?
