1. ....obviously to good to be true- robbers!!! Hope it's all sorted out.
 2. I've got one that I've messed about with but to be honest I 've probably not used much of it's potential as it seems quite complicated to me - I'm rubbish at stuff like this - settings, patches, banks, patterns- doh! I've been signed off work with manflu - so messing about with it might help my recuperation!!
 3. If this is the real deal, I wouldn't sleep too long! Grab it quick and enjoy!
 4.
Legacy strings from Stringsdirect are fantastic!
I hope so I've just bought 3 sets!!
 5. by way of update - sold for £40 on Gumtree & with a lot of interest - guy came & bought it a hour after it was advertised - must've been a real bargain! Honest guv,
 6. Good - I've a habit of lusting after your basses & I REALLY can't justify this . Been thinking about what I could magic up - especially as I promised the love of my life that I would never get another bass as I had everything I wanted in that department- that was before I went & got an Epi EB3 =- don't know how I lived without it!! Good luck D
 7. Great topic & replies . I didn't know anything about this tugging malarkey . Seems a bit bonkers, & limiting, but whadino, I've never tried'!
 8. I saw it too, hope all the effort pays off and it doesn't go underground. TheTroublemakers are on the case!
 9.
My mate's got one of these, his dad lent it to him and he only payed £50 for it. I thought it was a pretty good bass when I tried it, I really liked the neck.
thanks - think I'll ask for £40
 10. I've recently reacquired this , to be honest, not great bass that'd been on loan for sometime. It does play, but action is on high side. Don't know and can't find anything out about it - it has no model/ serial number or identifying feature apart from " Spider " on the headstock. Think I'm going to Gumtree it - I saw one that looked the same recently selling for £60 , but I'm thinking this might be a bit high . Anyone got any info or guidance so that I'm not being a greedy wee ....
 11.
I assume that as he bought it from crack converters that they gave him the money back ? I hope so. (pictures can be uploaded to photobucket or flickr etc and use the
 12.
My Custom Precision Has Landed! First posted this in Build Diaries, but I reckon out of 20,000-odd BassChatters, there must still be at least four or five who haven't seen this! And I feel 'Precisions' should be it's rightful home. Now read on: There are various features that I like about Precision basses spanning the 50s, 60s and 70s. What if it were possible to bring them together in one bass? I like the 50s vibe, but I like the comfort of contours. I like the 50s-type pickguard shape but also the early 60s-type 3-ply guards. A 51-type single coil pick-up is fine, but the 57-type split pick-up is more versatile, imho... and I got very used to the 70s-type 'F' stamped neck plate on my beloved USA Fender 76 Precision... So I approached our own Howard Satterley (The Bass Doc) with a very dodgy Photoshop mock-up of what I wanted... this was the brief: Body: Alder in vintage white. 57-type contours and radiussing, with routing for 51-type control plate. 62-type 3-ply pickguard in mint/black/mint, cut to 51-type shape. Neck: Allparts Fender-licensed one-piece maple neck with skunk stripe, truss rod adjustment at heel. 51-type headstock shape. Fender 'spaghetti' decal under clear coat. Vintage tint. 70s-type radius. Synthetic bone nut. Black dots. Hardware: Fender strap buttons. Side-mounted jack socket in cat's-eye plate. 57-type bridge with threaded barrels. 51-type control plate with chrome dome knobs. 70s-type 'F'-stamped neck plate on black cushion. Kluson reverse vintage tuners. La Bella Deep Talkin' 760FL strings. Electrics: Seymour Duncan Vintage SPB-1 split pickup. CTS solid shaft pots. Ceramic disc 0.05uF cap. Am I a happy bunny? Well, finally I know what 'plays like butter' means. The set-up is perfect, the action low and there is no fret buzz whatsoever from any string at any fret position. It sounds great, very warm, woody and present, with that classic 'clicky' attack when played with a pick...a lot like a Precision Bass, in fact. So yes, I'm a very happy bunny indeed! My Precision Bass GAS is finally over! Many thanks and heartfelt gratitude to Howard for his skill, endless patience and excellent communications. And thanks for all the bubble wrap, Uncle Horrid!
Drool!!!
 13.
Donny, the dog`s name is Rosie and it`s cute and she knows it. One of 2 dumb blondes in my life..... Jez
She certainly is a cutie - they do always know though . My hunt for a curly lead begins!!
 14.
Glad you like the bass Donny but I have had an EB O and an EB 3 and have found that they have 2 sounds. Thud and slightly more thud. Good if you are looking for a thud sound. Still, never did Jack Bruce or Andy Fraser any harm so what do I know Jez
I like thud!! Think I need a curly lead though.
 15.
Nah they are the coolest thing to use. Look at this and drool! You can even strech them out. See, even my daft dog loves it! Jez What's the wee ones name? Seal of approval in my book!
16.
How are you finding the bass, Donny? I've always resisted the Epi SG - hanging in for a suitable Gibson to present itself locally, but not a sniff thus far. I did have a go with a brand new SG in Banks, in York, and it was pretty cool; but could barely rock out with it mid-shop and put it through it's paces.
In the short time I've had I would say that i'm very impressed with it - I paid £130 for it which i think is reasonable. I kind of got it by accident as I'd had a go on an EB-0 , & thought it was pretty rubbish & felt like a cheapo in every way. I saw this advertised on Gumtree( I should really stop looking at basses for sale!) But this feels & sounds like a quality instrument , well set up and finished ( the grain is lovely)& I'm liking the different sounds - it's got a very strong powerful character. i gave it a bash at band practice the other night & the big pickup is a trouser flapper, middle position on knob flaps & twangs a bit& the bridge has a twangy gruntieness. I'm likeing them all but mid is probably my favourite . I think it's a pure total rock-out bass .
 17. Blood filled one's are best! Don't burst or pick them though.
 18.
I god my 2nd bass guitar today. I'm on a budget having already spent a lot on lead guitars and amps in the last 3 months but I needed a decent bass. I snagged a bargain natural Schecter Diamond 4 Stiletto with EMG hz's on ebay "BIN" last week. It arrived today. I unpacked it and sure enough it looked like it had been bought cheap BIN. I tried it out and I was kind of disappointed. It sounded good with a wider and clearer range of tones than my Peavey Zephyr but it also looked really dull, everything was dirty, strings had spots of rust and it had some loose bits. I don't think it had been played for ages because the jack failed to work on the first attempt so I shoved it in and out a couple of times and it now seems fine. Anyway I couldn't enjoy playing it like that so I unplugged it and tightened up a loose pot and tuner nob, got the lemon oil on the fret board and got some polish on the body. What a difference it makes. The cleaning did wondered as some of the marks on the body that the seller had photographed simply polished off and the black fittings and diamond inlays on the fret board came to life. I'm off to get some new strings at lunch time and can't wait to get down to playing tonight. Much happier now!
It's true that a clean car goes faster!!!
 19.
I have a 99 Epi SG with Gibson on the headstock. Carry on...
Snap - after ooh, days deliberating I got this at the weekend- serial number dates it to 1999 Unsung Korea - really quite chuffed with myself!!
 20.
Who is 'not Billy Gibbons'? Sorry. Couldn't resist. It is in fact BG and not DH. Whilst the concept of a DH Sig bass is appealing, as mentioned before, I think I would want a little more for that tag price. Having said that, given the nature of the man and his music, what more could they really offer? Texas shaped inlays maybe? I wonder what the difference in price would be without the relicing? Above that, the only thing you appear to be paying a lot for is a (singular) custom wound pick-up. Money no object, yeah why not. It is pleasing to my eye, but then again, so are a hell of a lot of other basses.
These young guys all look the same to me!!! Except Mr Beard , the one without the nice beard/hat combo, of course. I like the simplicity of the bass, but you could sprain your wrist tuning it
 21. Thanks chaps - I wondered if it was like the Fender Squier/squier by Fender MIJ/MIM/MIC/MIK/MIA etc malarky & whether it represented a badge of quality assurance. Probably not methinks, maybe, perhaps?
