  1. Oh bloody hell. Just as I think I finally don’t have amp GAS. 😆
  2. Definitely 4 ohms
  3. Had a gorgeous passive seafoam green one with a single chrome soap bar pickup about 15 years ago, bloody loved it. Stupidly sold it once then bought it back… If I hadn’t gone to shorter scales I expect I’d still have it.
  4. I don’t think I’ve read a bad review of them, they seem to do the Super J thing superbly. Andrew has carved a nice little niche for himself!
  5. Still for sale coz I’m a rash fool with no thought to actual real life use, after “oooh I want that” 😀
  6. PM’d you old bean 😀
  7. Shows how we’re all different, the MB sounded crap to me in comparison! As @Stub Mandrel alluded to, it depends what we’re listening though perhaps…
  8. Bought a Laney Digbeth preamp from Dave after posting a wanted ad. Super quick and easy to deal with, superb comms. Many thanks!
  9. Cheers all! Stupidly forgot to update my ad, as I’ve got one being posted out to me today. GLWTS
  10. Paging @agedhorse
  11. Andy bought a Mono dual bass gig bag from me, very straightforward to deal with, marvellous in fact!
  12. Passing off other people’s music as your own is basically theft isn’t it? Selling a guitar which had been given to you for exposure but then not given said exposure isn’t illegal but is highly dubious behaviour.
  13. I should share this beauty which arrived from @skelf last week:
  14. Bump for price drop - was being a bit optimistic before 😄
  15. You carry on, it’s all informative and good
  16. Price drop, think I was over-egging it at first! Now £160 delivered to mainland UK or £150 collected. Great gig bag for two basses. Or, as I did for one festival, one bass and my clothes 🤓 I’ve owned it for about 7 or 8 years now I think, but it still in very good condition.
  17. Alan has an excellent supply of ash for necks - this will be my third! I find it gives a deeper and more rounded tone than maple, then combined with the ebony you get a beautiful rich harmonic content across the octaves. Will try to do a demo soon 🤓
  18. That is super lush
  19. This has been on the cards pretty much since I first discovered ACG 11 odd years ago. It was @eude’s Finn 4 which first drew me to @skelf’s basses and very soon after that I saw a Holly-topped Finn. I’ve been hooked since the first bass I bought, and for a long time had a Holly-topped Finn in my wishlist. It almost became a reality about 5 years ago but I never got beyond the “annoying Alan” phase. Fast forward to last year, an ebony Finn which Alan shared on socials made me hatch a cunning plan for a yin/yang pair of basses - one holly, one ebony. Specs were developed, plans were hatched, then I had to be sensible and drop one of the two. Naturally I kept the holly plan as it has been on the list since day one, and the shape changed from Finn to RetroB. Thus this spec was born and a deposit was paid last July. Today the 5 string bass of my dreams was delivered. She sounds as good as she looks, and I’m over the moon 😎 So, the specs: Limba body, bloodwood accent, holly top 3pc Ash neck with ultra slim profile, ebony fingerboard with bloodwood blocks, 30” radius 3+2 headstock with holly facing and limba rear veneer 50mm RFB in bridge, 50mm OPB in neck Passive vol/tone/blend with coil select switch for RFB Black hardware 17mm bridge spacing (Hipshot A) Gotoh resolute tuners Honestly couldn’t be happier at this point, I am looking forward to getting her out in the wild with Katy Hurt next month 🤠 First 3 pics are from my “unboxing”, the rest are Alan’s:
  20. Dan Giles is on here - @d_g I believe! Is Nick Richards still on Sax with Nubiyan Twist? Did a couple of gigs with him probably 15 years ago, ace player
  21. Aw man, that’s ace, thank you 😊
