1. Beautiful bass and great demo -though I'm not looking to buy another bass and I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic currently, so just asking out of curiosity: does it have passive tone control too?
2. The video description on YouTube states that the body is ash. Given that it's been posted from the official account of Nordstrand I would assume it is ash indeed.
3. Just a suggestion: you might want to update the original post (and the title) to draw attention to the price drop in big, bold fonts. This sounds like a massive bargain! Hope you'll manage to sell it soon.
4. Is it 19mm spacing at the bridge? And what are the switches coil taps or frequency selectors or...?
5. Hi, Can you maybe write down the specs - the length/width/padding thickness etc? I tried to open the link but there seems to be a problem with their website.
6. isn't there a music store nearby that stores stocks laklands? although it's not the very same instrument as the one you consider buying, trying one should give you a better idea of whether you'd like it better than your MM than would listening to online soundclips, i suppose?
7.
Stick to the 2 basic rules young Padawan and you'll be fine - always follow the grain and never sand anything that doesn't need to be sanded... ie. quit while your ahead.
At this point I would greatly benefit from an instructional song on how to sand the neck of your bass, maybe accompanied by an animation featuring a bass neck running away from the grim looking sandpaper, who in the end turns out to be a nice fella.
8.
Although I'm not sure that stage in the vid is exactly essential as you sand off the top most layer anyway, what's the point of cleaning it first.
Somehow the thought of approaching my basses with sandpaper gives me the heebie-jeebies -I know it sounds stupid. But maybe it's time I man up...
9. No problem, I actually enjoy the discussion, so by all means, feel free to continue. I did find the link you suggest but on closer inspection noticed it's possible to order in multiples of 12 only. Afraid I don't have sufficiently many basses to justify that kind of a purchase.
10. Sorry to interrupt the veggie-acidic sweat discussion but does anyone know if there's a product available in the U.K. identical to the oil soap the guy uses in the video, or anything that could serve the purpose? All that I could find were for finished/varnished wood.
11.
Might do. I think there might be some good vids on yt (specifically for MusicMan) which show you how to care for oiled necks. I'm on my phone so I can't go hunting for links just now.
Think I've found it: http://youtu.be/24yWr2LRmJY
12. Thanks for all the suggestions. I've tried removing the excess wax previously but may have been a little too gentle, so I'll give rubbing harder a try first, then scotchbrite if that doesn't work.
If you have acidic sweat (are you a vegetarian?)
As far as I know my sweat isn't overly acidic -at least I haven't so far burnt holes on my t-shirts around my armpits and haven't managed to remove any finish on the necks of my other basses (which I've played much more). And I'm not a vegetarian, I like to have animals on my plate. Why. do vegetarians tend to have more acidic sweat?!?
13. Hi, I looked up the forum but couldn't find a thread with an answer to my problem so here you go: I've got a bass with an oil-finished maple neck (and ebony fretboard, in case it's relevant information). For a while now the neck has developed a sticky feel, which makes it a bit unpleasant to play. It's a rather good quality instrument (a Moon MBC-5) so I don't suppose it's a matter of poor finish. I try to wax the body (which is also finished in oil) and neck regularly using some of this. Any ideas on why the neck might have gotten sticky -and more importantly how I can correct this? Some advice on how to (better) care for the neck would also be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Baran
14. they're cheaper on amazon.
15. and it's back on, with the same pics and description (well, apart from him spelling "bass" correctly this time) but different title (it's an MIM this time) & starting bid.
16. looks like he made the picture just before the bass hit the floor.
17. dunno how much of a problem it is but the machineheads aren't parallel to each other and the electronics cover doesn't seem to fit snugly. i also don't see why he put black machineheads on a bass with gold hardware. i reckon these would knock off the price a bit. but then i'm no expert so i may be making no sense at all.
18.
This link shows a Bacchus jazz in action: http://m.youtube.com...h?v=kpGAGYXvg4Y
somehow the youtube links posted via phones lead to irrelevant videos/channels when tried to open on a computer. you may consider re-posting the link from a computer (could help the sale, assuming most people view the thread on their computers)
19.
Unfortunately it's gone. Was going to take a slight detour on the way to Moffat to have a look.
to me it appears to be still available?!? (unless you called the seller and were told it's gone, that is)
20. each time i look at that str i feel like crying -but i don't need a sixth string, and definitely not an extra bass. and this is officially my first (very well deserved) free bump.

22.
Cool - can each input be soloed so that just that person can hear what they are playing? I.E. Could 5 people in a demo room all use one of these and just be listening to themselves and not any sort of band mix?
seems possible judging by this video
23. correct me if i'm wrong but it uses a USB 1.1 connection and not 2.0, right? and alesis website says it comes with cubase le, is that included in the sale as well or not?
24. I saw the same quartet at Queen Elizabeth Hall during London Jazz Festival 2009. Unfortunately they left the control of the mixer to what I think was a cross between a toddler and a monkey who managed to make the music (which was otherwise sublime) difficult to enjoy. I'd love to see them with a proper sound system (controlled by someone capable) that would make it possible to hear Jason Moran but I'm out of London on 30th; otherwise I'd have snapped this up long ago. Whoever gets this ticket is sure to have a night to remember. Especially Harland has an inhumane way of drumming which renders it extremely difficult to praise the creativity and technique of any other drummer.
