  1. Was this also in London, circa 20 years ago? I had a girlfriend who did an audition like that, was a mental health nursing student and from mid Wales....
  2. I had one of those for my first instrument, way back when I was 16 in 1995. I saved up for ages to buy it, and I loved it. I ended up hacking the guts out of it and covering it in paint and stickers. I don't suppose it was that great, because even as plywood goes, I've seen better plywood! Still loved it though.
  3. @Cat Burrito, that's a great review; your duo sounds great. If I'm ever in your area, or you're in mine, I'll make a point of coming to see you play. I was in a very short-lived Goth duo in High Wycombe, once, but I think I'd prefer to see you guys doing it properly rather than remember that little project!
  4. Loz, I don't know you but I bloody admire you.
  5. I really like that.
  6. Well, there's the t-shirt design!
  7. I like that one. Subtle, tasteful and sexy. Just like me.
  8. I'm going on the Saturday with three friends. Two play guitar, so they're sitting in the back of the car whilst us bassists do the hard work.
  9. E - Just play the bugger and don't worry.
  10. This; I found that I needed to have fun to learn, and playing songs I like and the feeling that engendered in me made practising harder songs easier - knowing that I could meant that I did.
  11. Spotify has just segued from Bullet With Butterfly Wings to Rock Superstar for me. Very happy with that.
  12. Get in! I've never been reviewed, other than in a "Can you pick out the bass player wot did it, Sir?" kind of way.
  13. The might get the fancy cases but do they get the adoration?
  14. I think that the three knobs approach looks organic; it would be my choice if that were my bass, I think.
  15. That was the London Guitar Show, held at Wembley. I went to the first few, which were really good.
  16. That looks as cool as a very cool thing indeed. Just the ticket for putting the black dog in his place.
  17. Well, I'd better follow this.
  18. Thanks chaps, much appreciated. It's very nice indeed to be part of such a friendly and supportive community.
  19. Had a great one on Tuesday night; my stepfather has been seriously ill in hospital (at one point we were told he was very likely to die on the operating table but being a contrary old sod he's pulled through nicely, just to annoy the medics) and that's been a hard ride. There have also been some unusual band politics via the band's WhatsApp group which had proved to be uncomfortable in the week between rehearsals. It was great, therefore, to arrive, set up, play a couple of old favourites and then work on three new songs (No-one Knows, Rebel Yell and For Whom The Bell Tolls) which went very well, followed by a chat and a brew with my bandmates before heading back in and playing various songs from the set. Just what I needed.
  20. Oh, now you're talking.... Kyuss with Cliff would have been amazing.
  21. You know you're in trouble when Dave Mustaine is the most reasonable guy in the room.
  22. I don't know what any of this means, but if you can make some decent pickups I'll give you a shout for future projects!
  23. I'd love to have the time to practise six hours per day, but if I had that time available I wouldn't practise for six hours per day. Sorry to bring the party down, but what scares me at night is the futility of existence.
