Here is a pair of Stage Line PAB-252P speakers up for sale as I’ve now changed my P. A. system. The plate on the back shows 8 ohms, 150 watts Maximum power rating. They have three types of connector on the back – Speakon, ¼” jack socket & spring loaded push in terminals. They are 22” high, 15” across the front & 12” deep. Each speaker cabinet has a single 10” speaker and a horn speaker, and the front grille is metal mesh. They each have a carrying strap handle & a “Top Hat” insert for a speaker stand ( to take 35mm diameter speaker stand poles). They are both in good working order, but there are external marks & knocks on the vinyl covering – each has a mark on the top where a bracket was fitted to them when I was doing a residency at a pub - you can see the marks in one of the pics. They give a good, clear sound & I have used them as main speakers for small pub gigs with a duo I was in. As they are wedge shaped at the back they make brilliant floor monitors/foldback speakers. They each weigh 12 kilos, so if I were to pack them in cardboard they would have to be sent separately & by Standard parcels (that would be £15 each, making a total of £30 postage). It would be much better for the buyer to call, pay cash & collect, but I would deliver to within a 10 mile radius of Morecambe for £5 – or I could arrange to meet up with you - whatever.

Palatino EUB PRICE DROP £160 + delivery SOLD

Good evening - PM sent to you. -
Hi - Do you still have the Ernie Ball flatwounds up for trade? I have a new & unused set of D'Addario EPS220 - Super Bright Prosteel Long gauge strings to trade. I want a set of flatwounds for a Peavey Foundation fretless (which is a 34" scale - styled very much on the Fender Jazz bass) so if yours are for a Precision, they should be OK. Do you know what gauge the Enie Ball strings are?

So let me get this straight about the Roland amp - is it the Micro Cube RX (2.5 watts per side stereo), or the Roland Cube 30X (this is the one i thought you meant - 30 watts, 10" speaker)? Cheers,
-
Hi - I've got to join in here - I've just got rid of my little Peavey Microbass as it was too ba(s)sic, and the tone was poor. Looking round for a small neat amp that will give a decent tone - the range of amps is amazing. I must say I hadn't thought of the Line 6 110 though, and as regards the Roland, do you lose the sound when you use the line out as it is also the headphone socket, or is there an option/switch or whatever to keep the internal speaker on? How about the Gallien Keuger Backline 110 (2) or the Hartke A35? Also was considering the Laney RB2 30 watter or Marshall MB30. Has anyone had experience of any of these? The trouble is finding a stockist of all the different types to try them out..... I just want the perfect minature, lightweight, cheap, feature filled amp - that's all!!! Oh yes, and if it was inflatable so you could roll it up and put it in your pocket that would be cool as well. Gonna go to the Bacup guitar show this Sunday - there might be a bargain or so - but if not they do a great bacon butty and coffee at a fair price. Anyone else going?

So who has tried these? At the price I'm sure a few people here have given them a go - what did you think of them?
Headset radio mics, wireless packs for the instruments. Amp sims / POD's into a small 12 channel passive mixer out to powered speakers. Now you don't have to carry instrument amps, mic stands, mic leads or a PA amp. You'll also be lighter by about £2000. Glad you had a good gig, though.
Well, that's right - we played through one of the Bose L1 systems when we were playing with another band a few weeks ago - that WAS stunning - simple to assemble, light and, - I believe, with a couple of bass speakers fitted you can run bass through them. One of those, plus, as you say, radio headset mics and radio links on the guitars - maybe £3.5K would see us right..... Seriously great piece of kit though - even sound distribution through the room. Very clear and a good tone. What a truly different/attitude changing experience after playing through columns, or their equivalent, for all this time. So what are the next six numbers for Wednesday night's Lotto draw then.... HMMMMMM...

 Well then, I'm up and about after last night's gig at a fairly local pub. -That's me on the 62 Reissue Jazz bass & my mate John on guitar. Just a standard covers duo with the best drummer in the world - starts & stops when you want, keeps at a steady speed, as loud (or as quiet) as you want, doesn't argue & doesn't want a share of the fee! He's called Alex (Alesis drum machine)! Anyhoo we rolled out our three half hours to a so-so audience and it was OK - got compliments, had friends come (and stay!) So we come to strip all the gear down & load it into the cars - hey - you know how it goes. Freezing night, screen frozen up, the gear's getting heavier and heavier I swear. And ALL OF THE EQUIPMENT & CABLES!!! WOW - how are we to reduce it down - ridiculous amount of stuff just to go out & play in a duo - and we didn't even take the monitors last night. Handling the gear FOUR TIMES - out into the car, out into the gig, back to the car, back in the house. I've been playing on & off (mostly on) for forty years now - it's not getting any easier! I know, I know, you don't have to do it, but if only I had taken up the Piccolo (perhaps doubling on Flute). So here I am counting my half of our monster fee and recovering by degrees. Just a little down, but hey - you just know the next one will be great.....

Radio Mic Pickup System - What Do You Think?
Stompbox replied to Stompbox's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Hey Bassace - thanks for the reply. Yes, you can move the mic about to find the right spot in the instrument, and no, it isn't toppy at all, neither is feedback as much of an issues as it was with the piezo mounted bridge unit. Mateybass - I am astounded to hear that, but, given that the unit runs off small batteries :- 1) I shouldn't think it will affect any planes as it supposedly has a range of 30 feet. 2) Would the "frequency police" be about with a detector - like in the old war films with the Gestapo triangulating on me from nearby (within 30 feet)? I take your point & I am not trying to be frivolous but I will check with the supplier on the frequency. -
Yes I saw this too - I got an Email from the Fender site announcing its new products & this was on it. Like you say it's a real stunner, but hey - a spare £1900 - not at the moment. I really love Jazz basses and I bet this is yet another great example. I might have to settle for one of the Squier Vintage Modified as finances are at present - only £275 or thereabouts for one of those & a really nice neck (on the one I tried, anyway). Geoff

Well what do you think of this - I got a radio mic, transmitter & receiver off Ebay (only a cheap one - and I mean cheap - £9.99 & no postage!). I took the headset microphone apart - took the headband off, & hot glued a piece of rubber to the back of the microphone bendy arm. I've attached photos of the setup. I clamp it to the bridge with a jumbo crocodile clip, then the mic head (with pop shield) goes through the "F" hole and the transmitter goes on my belt. Then you have on/off and MOST IMPORTANT you have a volume control for your bass and NO WIRES. It really does sound good - the receiver just plugs in to your amplifier input it just has an on/off switch & a short dangly aerial wire. It takes far less EQing than a bridge mounted piezo pickup. I can't beleive how good it sounds (and you are probably thinking the same) - but it does! This is the link -and no, I'm not on commission!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WIRELESS-MICROPHONE-...=item4a98c98fe4 It really, really works - I don't know about the range of the transmitter/receiver, but it's OK in my front room. Anyway that's my ten pennyworth. No doubt someone will shoot it down, but hey, for the price it's worth a go. Stompbox.

Good morning! I bought a Stentor 3/4 bass, model 1950. It's not a top line instrument, but it's the one I have started on, and it has a good gig bag & a solid top. I had the nut adjusted, an adjustable bridge fitted, and a new set of strings put on. It plays OK for me!! THE OTHER THING I DID WAS TO USE VERY FINE STEEL WOOL TO GENTLY RUB DOWN THE BACK OF THE NECK TO GET A GOOD SMOOTH SURFACE FOR MY HAND TO SLIDE ON. All the best, Stompbox.

WITHDRAWN FROM SALE Six Rounds "Double Barrel" Pickup
Stompbox posted a topic in EUB and Double Bass
I have decided to keep the pickup for the time being. -
Hi - back after break for Christmas/New Year. Thanks for your reply, but it looks like I missed out on the Orchestral set you recommended! When you say "adventurous" as regards a solo set, is the idea that you would normally use them a tone up, or deliberately run them slack at normal pitch? Could I get an idea of how they would feel by de-tuning my bass by a full tone? Cheers.

Hey - I've just been having a look on this topic/thresd. The information you've set out is really VERY helpful. I've just got myself started on DB. Thanks
-
Good afternoon, Have you still got any sets left - I have only recently got a 3/4 DB - it's strung with Innovation black nylon "Ultra Black" which are high tension (it says on the box). What I'm after are a set that are, perhaps, a little easier to play - are the Helicore Solo or Orchestral more suitable - I'm playing ( or TRYING to play ) pizz for fairly basic Country/Blues/Standards kind of stuff. On a purely practical note metallic/silver strings would also be easier to see in a dark setting on a black fingerboard! Anyway do you have a set that might suit please? Thanks.
