1. When I was running my 12 string split between my bass amp and a Trace TVT9 combo, I turned the bass all the way down on the guitar combo just to be on the safe side. I had so much distortion on it it I probably wouldn't have recognised speaker fart until it was too late otherwise
2. Football? I partake in neither so provided I;m free that weekend I'll be getting myself down there.
3. Just found this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LED-LIGHT-BAR-guitar...=item335d7d84e2 I like this a lot - my only concern would be that it could introduce mains hum into the signal
4. a cool light? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rack-light-19-1U-Coo...=item2a052f70c2
5. Oooh, that would be good. There's a lot more of us in this part of the world on the Forum than there used to be - except it'll still not exactly be handy for the Aberdeen guys but still closer than Moffat
6. I didn't mean any disrespect what i meant its not what is played, its how its played
7. If its the same as the NS4 then according to the website they use Gotoh GB7s, the Euro ones use Locking Schallers. The difference is that Schaller M4s have the screw hole on the bottom corner and GB7s have the screw hole in the middle In fact I've lightened the picture and that looks like Gotohs to me
8. If its a Warmoth and the pictures accurately portray the colour then its ebony. The Warmoth Ebony boards are as black as black can be and it looks the same as the one I had on my '54 P bass. There are about 400 varieties of ebony ranging from 'black' to 'is that ebony?' cos the cheap and nasty stuff tends to be very pale, requires dying and the filling of knots.
9. Billie Jean - F# C# E F# E C# B C# for the verse, A C# A C# A C# A Ab is a simplified version of the chorus Easy Peasy. Most MJ songs are straightforward, its all about the feel
10. The nearest one for us is normally in Moffat, organised by Alan at ACG I haven't managed to get along to one yet as I've normally got something on but I hope to get to the next one whenever that is
11.
Decided to spend a little more and I've gone for the Orange Bass Terror, Its 500 watts RMS compared to the Bugeras 500 watt peak, but does the fact it's only class D change anythin? I hope it's loud enough.
Its its not loud enough then youre either a) hard of hearing and need to see an audiologist or; you're playing Woodstock with no PA support. This is a seriously loud head
12. I rmember vividly my dad coming over on Christmas morning when I was 12 to hear my new bass. I had to hide round the corner from him before I could play. It took me ages before I was comfortable with someone being around me when I played - maybe something to do with worrying that people think you're terrible, being out of your comfort zone or just shy
13. Right, a few years ago I decided to go with a Rickenbacker 4003 to get the Chris Squire sound. Sounded nothing like him. listened to him a bit more, well a lot more, in fact I'm listening to Yes right now. He seems to get the same grindy tone regardless of what he's using so I'm guessing its down to the amp he uses. I'm happy with my GK but I can't get it to quite grind enough for me. I've been extensively looking for something that will replicate his tone and have got it down to a couple of possiblities. Tech 21 VT Bass Behringer Vintage Monster VT999 EHX Bass Blogger I've purposly linked to a talkbass thread about the behringer rather than the Behringer website Right, that's the pedals I've picked. The sound I am trying to achieve is this which just so happens to be one of my favourite songs. Looking forward to the replies and, please, I know the reputation Behringer has so no need to bring it up. Thanks
14.
You mean like they used to?
Exactly - I'm waiting for a victory reissue If you know of anyone selling one in the future then let me know
15. I seem to have mislaid my camera so I've added images I found on the web so you know what they look like in the meantime
16.
I imported two big Schroeder cabs, and.. err... HMC&E must have been busy with other things that day(!)
I'm telling on you
17. And the prize goes to:
Surely we haven't reached the astonishing realisation that a good player can make almost anything sound half-decent, and that the benefits offered by expensive instruments are not only incremental but subject to the law of diminishing returns when compared to the fiscal outlay?
Congratulations, you win a weekend for two in February. There are going to be good players with expensive gear but yes, I believe that you can gig with almost anything as long as its made decently
18. Well when I had my Trace V-type combo, I replaced the Marshall branded ones that were in there with JJ 12AX7s and they gave the amp a lovely dirty tone so they'd be the first ones I'd try again.
19. Its a Galveston or similar from the same factory
20. I think I was something silly like £70 for my Schroeder 1212L
21. cool - sow how far away is eventually? I know what tubes I'd be going for already.
22. Unless you're buying from the showcase on the Warmoth site, be prepared to wait a couple of months for it. It might be quicker depending on what you're after but from previous experience its not an overnight thing, plus yout have the time for it to leave Warmoth, get on a plane, get checked and charged by customs, pay the charges to release it and actually receive it. Having said that, their stuff is fantastic quality
23.
I'll not ever be selling it.
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa This is Basschat anonymous, where gear junkies come to get their fix and find the one (for that week) Sorry but I did that a few times before I realised that I'll never be satisfied with what I have so just buy and sell stuff when I want a change Warmoth stuff is amazing - I built 2 basses from Warmoth parts, basses that I'd never sell Exactly, they're long gone
24. Hmm, surprised there's been no response yet - when I asked about something similar to a Fender tonestack in a pedal, one of the ones I was recommended was this one.
