1. I bought this at the start of the year as a way of transporting my 8x10" when having to negotiate stairs or steps but I've never used it. These cost £70 delivered here but I am willing to sell it for £30. If you have anything you'd like to trade - strings, pedals etc then let me know what you have. You'd have to collect it or meet me somewhere reasonable as its going to cost more to post it than what I am selling it for.
2. an SB-3? haven't come across one of those before
3. I buy stuff from these guys from time to time. They do a lot of different printable paper. http://www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk/ In fact my Goth T-Bird now has a white scratchplate which is simply white matt adhesive paper with the bicentennial Bird on it stuck over the original
4. Google is your friend http://www.ashtonmusic.com/manuals/BA200HBA400H.pdf
5. Definitely. If I was closer I;d have it. One thing you'll need to be careful of is that you may not be able to add a second cab as its 4 ohms and most amps only go as low as 4ohms. Richardd is selling a Peavey amp for peanuts. He;s in Lincoln but I'm sure couriering it would be dooable as they go down to 2ohms so you could add a second 4 ohm cab in the futue if you needed it
6. Extremely highly underrated basses. These can do Jazz bass tones as well as the usual expected rock giantness Plus they look cool
7.
Fear gave him wings as they say.....
Smells like fear right enough
8. is that a Badass II or III?
9.
I've got a very good feeling about it!
I had a very good feeling about my Rickenbacker 4003 and my Warwick Thumb NT5 and my Modulus Flea and, well you get the picture. Heard it all before Still, nothing beats the thrill and anticipation of having something new and shiny winging its way to you, for about 5 minutes
10. Its unfortunate that most of the time with players such as these all you get to see/hear is a huge w***fest and there's probably few have heard them playing 'regular' stuff. As I've heard Billy Sheehan say before, he's paid to be the bass player yet all you see on Youtube are those solos and people get fed up with them forgetting that they actually play 'bass' bass Wasn't Mr Big's biggest hit 'To Be With You Again'? So simple and no widdles
11. Alternatively, second hand £700 will get you all of the below: Epiphone Thunderbird Squier VM Jazz Fretless Yamaha BB605 Crafter acoustic 18 sets of Hartke Strings One for every occasion.
12. I once received a 1979 Rickenbacker 4000 in an old gig bag with a broken zip held together by brown tape. Amazingly it was still in one piece. For me it depends if I have cardboard available - what I do have is bubblewrap. Because I do so much buying and selling I buy 100m rolls of it. Normally to pack the bass inside the box but sometimes I put loads round the hardcase
13. don't worry about it. What you effectively have now is 3 units in one box - a preamp, a poweramp and a speaker cabinet. that's why its called a combo. 9 times out of 10 when you hear someone talking about a head or an amp what they are referring to is a preamp and a poweramp in one box This is mine Amps are given an output in watts with a minimum impedence. What that means is to get the full output from the amp you will need to have the equivelant impedence in your speaker cabinet but you don;t always need the full output. An amp with a minimum impedence of 4ohms means that you can either connect 1 4ohm speaker or 2 8 ohm speakers and that will allow the amp to put out its full power. The impedence is written on a plate on the back of the cab. These are the cabs that I use albeit mine are the older version with the carpet covering and steel grill If I am playing a low volume gig, eg where we are using a full PA then I only need to use 1 cab. The amp will be running at 8ohms so will only be able to put out 300 watts. If I am playing a rock gig then I will take both to get the full output from the amp
14. no they're only on the OC-3. The OC-2 is analogue and comes complete with warbles. The OC-3 is polyphonic so you can play chords and it does octave up and down as far as I remember as well as distortion
15. For that kind of money you could probably pick up a couple of trace cabs if you are prepared to wait. I've seen 4x10"s go for £100 and compact 15"s for £90. You could do worse than a series 6 Trace Head or even something like the Peavey that sold recently. Trace Amp The best thing to do is look for something good and reliable but not in fashion as you'll get it cheaper You may struggle to get something loud enough for that kind of money but second hand Trace, Peavey or Ashdown is going to probably be your best bet
16. I think the preamp in is so you can use an external preamp and bypass the one in the amp. You could keep the Hartke and use it as a practice amp or sell it and buy something more powerful. If you had a figure in mind that you have to spend then I'm sure we could all give you our own ideas for what to buy. You also have a choice of a louder combo or a head and cab(s)
17. not just any octaver - it has to be a Boss OC-2 I would never sell mine
18. stringbusters do individual rotos
19. I should also mention that I open to offers as well. if I don't get any bites then I'll just keep them but it would be nice to sell both as it'll mean I can get my tuner back on the board and have room for whatever overdrive i decide to go for.
20. its all over the place at the minute
21. its definitely worth doing your homework when it comes to buying second hand - you can get a bargain on Ebay only to find that its only a few pounds to buy it new McNach - did you intend your avatar to look like a classic John Deacon image?
22. I'll be leaving my band at the end of the year - they just dont know it yet We get together to gig and that's it - no rehearsal, no promotion, no discussing new tunes etc We're no longer a band and more like 4 sessions musicians who turn up to play at various events - if we weren't so bloody talented it would've all came crashing down ages ago Shame - been together for 14 years
23. That combo doesn't have a speaker output. Its only 60 watts, you're going to need more than that for a pub gig. Read as much as you can on here and ask as many questions as you can. My personal experience - first gig was with a Peavey TNT150, not loud enough, distorted badly. Traded for a Trace 200w 2x10" combo. Still not loud enough so added a 4x10". Plenty of volume now. Smallest setup was a Genz Shuttle 6 and a Schroeder 2x12" - loud enough for any pub gig, very pokey. Lowest powered loud setup was a Trace amp putting out about 90 watts into a Trace 4x12". Very loud from low watts. Its a combination of amp output with efficiency of your speakers
24. My Ashdowns don't have any feet but I have a pile of Trace rubber feet that I am going to fit before the gig next Friday
25.
You don't really mean that. Tell me you don't really mean that. With all those other great basses in your possession, when would you actually play that thing?
I love 12vers and the Chandler is the daddy - nothing else can come close plus with only 2 weeks until I see Cheap trick what will Tom be using? His Waterstone, Hamer or the Chandler?
