1. Final price drop, really need to get this sold! If you're interested make me an offer...
2.
Hiya, would you be interested in my Fender Geddy as a trade?
Sorry mate, got basses all sorted. However, would be interested in trades on amps or a guitar...
3. I play one, and absolutely love it. Compared it to a standard MIM and 2 MIAs in the shop, and to my ears it was the best sounding; the MIM sounded dreadful, and the MIAs were far too clanky and 'modern' for my taste in a Precision (although this is strange as looking under the scratchplate reveals US pickups...) I also love the neck, and I'm a fan of the jazz profile! It's chunky, but thin front to back, not too dissimilar to a Stingray neck. Very comfy. I have put a black scratchplate on mine though... but mine's the honey blonde colour, and with the gold it just looked like, well, babysick. The slotted truss rod isn't too much hassle really, but I've had quite a few Fenders with this style of nut, so I'm well practised in making an adjustment without taking the bass to pieces.
4. Bump, been quite a bit of interest, but nothing certain yet. Feel free to make me an offer...
5. Cheers for the recommendation! 'tis a lovely fretless...
6.
Well I guess it looks more like it now you've added the smilies. Anyhoo I've heard some say that it was only used for a couple of years but I think the 70s spacing was used on some basses right up until the early 80s (like '82 or something) then it went back to Leo's design.
My housemate has an 83 which has the 70s spacing, but round about this time, Fender were simply using up parts that were on the shelf.
7. I love it when a plan comes together.
8.
Do they not normally have more than that written on the headstock? I'd want to see a serial number (although that still wouldn't be conclusive) before being more convinced.
The serial number is usually on the back of the neck, near the heel.
9.
They're not. The bodies and headstocks (RW) are thinner. Although you might have a RW neck - check the headstock thickness to check (Fender markings are a bit hit or miss).
I thought this was just down to the thinner finish?
10. haha, just beat me to it!
11. It looks like a 'foto flame'. If so, the top isn't wood, but a piece of film with the flamed maple effect printed upon it, which is then laminated to the bass and finished in the regular way. I think the body wood is basswood.
12.
+1 The roadworn series are practically double the price of the Standard MIMs. So why not make an intermediately priced series using the better parts (as on a Roadworn), but on a 'clean' looking bass?
I think this is where the 'Classic' series comes in, albeit without the nitro finish (which of course adds quite a lot to the cost of the road worn, as well as the feel). I've got a classic P-bass and it is lovely, but I really don't like the plasticky finish as much as the nitro on the RW.
13. I had a jazz, and loved it. I've owned quite a few different jazzes (MIA, MIM, CIJ), and this was definitely the best I've had.
14. That looks really nice! Really good price too...
15. I used to have the same Dod, absolutely great sounding flanger!
16. Really interested in this, whereabouts are you based, or how much would postage be?
17. Sorry mate, bit confused with your answer... So are you saying it doesn't block phantom power?
18. I'm thinking of getting one of these for home recording / amp backup but was just wondering if they block phantom power? Being a clone of the sansamp, I thought they would be phantom powered, but it doesn't seem that way. However, it would be nice to know that it's not going to go pop during live use.
19. I once used one at a gig with a 3 piece rock band, it was pretty much useless.
