1. just traded my $$, was a great bass, HUGE sounds but a wee bit over the top for my kind of stuff! I'd have another one in a second though, lovely feel to them one of 'wicks finest!!
2. ive got an early 80's Marlin brand PBass. its seen better days, fair few scuffs etc to the body and faded paintwork (black), the neck is nice and straight, maple with maple board, truss rod works fine - adjusted at body end. neck has a few scuffs on the back too but nothing drastic. the bridge has grooved saddles but the scewheads are shot so may need some work to get thm out and replace it! the neck had one of the 'ears' missing from one machinehead when i got it so ive put a cheapie on as a replacement which does the job but not great. took the pickguard off and theres some crude 'home made' routing done to accomodate a battery (looks like its had an active pup in there at some point) w/b/w pickguard. got it off ebay as fancied a project but alas no time, plus ive decided to concentrate on a jazz project instead. hows about £50? plus a fiver towards post if anyone is intersted in it ive also got an EMG pup which i bought off beedster you can have for £30 (same as what i paid) so the pair for £70 plus post??
3. bought this of fellow forumite recently, but ive since bought a nice shiny new mighty mite neck so dont need this one any more! comes with the tuners, heres a link to previous post: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=125125&hl= £25 + post
4. bought if off a store in the states on ebay, heres a link to some of their other stuff: http://shop.ebay.co.uk/timbo81/m.html?_nkw...om=&_ipg=25
5. just recently got this, but ive seen another body i prefer (spalted maple/mahogany) so putting it up i goit this from the states, its alder with a bookmatched walnut top, standard jazz routing, its an unfinished body so will need a final sand and either lacquer or oil etc to seal it. it looks GREAT! the bookmatch walnut is fab, nice weight not too heavy, theres no 'hole' fro the bridge ground wire so that would need doing too. all in including import taxes (thanks to our wonderful freindly government) this stands me £250 but i know i'm not gonna recoup that, but i'd like £160 and i'll include postage in that for an extra £10 ive also got a custom made walnut control plate if interested? can't seem to get my images to upload - saying theyre larger than the available space?? I can email anyone them if interested but heres a few ive added through photobucket:
6. I don't NEED to take a backup, but hey I've got them so i take them!!!! i always use my main baby ('wick fortress) and its NEVER failed, but i'm a bit of a show off so i like to use others too and i usually take 2 or 3 otherwise theyde never get played live and that'd be a shame!! theyre just too pretty to keave in the house!! haha
7. bass now traded, thanks for all offers/inquiries
8. anyone happen to know the output rating of the passive MEC pups? got a 'wick fortress with passive P/J pups but want to replace them with hotter passive pups and reatin the existing MEC eq system. Ive read loads to confirm that the MEC's are low output so would be handy to know exactly what they are rated at when looking for new alternatives!!
9. hmmm couple of tempting offers there!!! let me think As far as sale price goes, it'd be £500 incl p&p
10. bought a pair of status jazz pups on ebay and one of them has the battery lead snapped off completely at the pup end! theres a rew starnds of wire stickin out of the epoxy stuff. is there anyway these can be repaired/rewired? i'm guessing not, but thats no probs ive still got one that works!!
11. no probs, thanks for the info, like i say ive got a set of passive pups anyway! wud've just liked to use the MEC's
12. is it OK to use the audere preamp with active pickups? i have passive jazz pups i can use but ive got a set of active MEC jazz pups i'm keen to install with it, but wasnt sure if the pre was designed for passives or active too!?
13. was busy setting my toys up at the weekend and cleaning/playing them so thought i'd take a pic!! basically: '94 fortress one (my baby - bought new and my number 1 gig bass) '05 corvette $$ nirvana black '06 streamer jazzman status groove (just bought off here and what an unbelievable bargainit was!!) status/trace elliot T-Bass cant upload the full size image its tooo big!! unles anyone can tell me how to do it?
14. well i didnt think i'd contemplate gettong rid of this so soon, but since gettong the streamer jazzman i dont use it as much! its a 2005 corvette $$ nirvana black 4 string fretted, bought on here few months ago, heres a link to the original thread: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=116982&hl= Its in teh same used condition, and very good nick, plays great and i do love playing it but as i'm mainly gigging my fortress and streamer these days it doesnt get the attention it deserves! trade wise ... well..... I do still love 'wicks so a trade for another one isnt out of the question! i also love status so i'd consider anything from them! i also like jazzes (but no squires) in particular i'd quite fancy a 70's reissue (sunbirst, block inlays!) prety much open to all suggestions, ive read a lot of good things about sandbergs too and like the look so wouldnt mind trying one at some point!! anyway, i havent made my mind up 100% yet about def letting it go but if i get a tempting offer well that could help make my mind up!!
15. straight sale price? (ive got nothing to offer as trade!)

Merton

Just bought a 'beat up' status groove of Merton, and have to say he's a real gent! great to deal with and very honest! manhy thanks a gain for a great bass!!
17. any idea what the body wood is on this?
18. will NEVER part with my warwick fortress, its a '94 - bought it new with my first proper jobs first months slaray!! it was my first 'good' bass and its still my main gigging bass!!
19. that neck is lush!! where did u find it? wish i could find one like that for my jazz build!!
20. anyone heard of them/tried them?? they market them as 'hotter' than EMG's so was considering a set as theyre a fraction of the price of EMG's but dubious about brands ive not heard of!! if theyr ok i'm considering a set in my 'wick fortress (p/j) would they work with the MEC active circuit? my current stock MEC's are passive so any ppotential issues?
21. ive been tempted to try swapping out my MEC stuff in my fortess too! cant make my mind up though! like barts but also like EMG! decisions decisions...but the prices on thomann for the glok pre's are pretty good!! wonder if my stock MEC pups would sound any better through a glok??
