I'm not precious about my paperweight, I've been trying to identify it to reunite it with the family it originally belonged to (and knew there would be some Italian speakers on here)

Now I love a very wide cross section of music so I'll never criticise variety, however, you do seem to have a lot of big strong songs from very different eras/genres, and to me they are not sitting easily with one another - Pump it Up and Alright Now for one example - Burning Down The House, Boys Are Back in Town, Wanted Dead or Alive as another. Now I like four out of five of those, but put it this way, I'd never dream of putting them together on a mix tape.

I keep seeing this with cars now being classed as classic - Granada, early Range Rovers, all sorts of things that were just piles of junk in the first place. This bass now looks great but may well still be a pup.

Sorry if this is too obvious, but have you given him a whole stack of relevant music to listen to? Partly beaten to it by JapanAxe!

Because it was a rubbish bass in the first place? Somehow 70's Fenders now have collectable status, but they did make an awful lot of junk for many years.

Been happily using the BX500 for over a year now and love it. You folks must play in some VERY loud bands if you need all that extra power! Service from Bass Gear is brilliant as well (although I've not bumped into Barrie in my 3 trips there so far)!

My beef is with people falling into the trap of voting for the wrong thing - a brilliant, well produced riff over a moderately played, poorly recorded great little tune, which to me is what the composition is all about (but then I play in a band that plays loads of Bob Dylan, so what do I know)

[/quote] The only reason I'll disagree with you here Doug is that it is called a Composition Competition - virtuosity shouldn't really come in to it, and in fact one month an absolutely virtuoso performance came second in my book with you getting my vote because your piece had more of the elements of composition. Representative of the picture - we'll that could be done in so many ways, it should really only be the springboard. It is of course the perogative of you guys who regularly participate to see it the way you do, I'll carry on supporting from the sidelines, but I do stick to my criticism (which is meant in a very positive way).
