  2. Oops, not sure what happened there. Honza, you were premature. Hold on.....Why is everything so small? I've edited this to add in the poll relating to the choice of wood in Post # 21.
  3. Another vote for Jon Shuker. Really a top bloke.
  4. This looks really great. Very clean precise work. Do you mind if I ask what finishing oil you used, and what technique you used to apply it? I'm finding finishing a nightmare....
  5. Sold a Rob Allen Mouse to another bass chatter here.... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/251505-rob-allen-mouse-30-fretless-lined-for-sale-sold/page__fromsearch__1

  7. And exotic tops? Any recommendations for a good source of those?
  8. I'd be interested to hear of wood suppliers based either in the UK or willing to ship to the UK. I'm thinking of body/neck blanks, fretboards, drop tops etc. It would be great to find some suppliers of UK-grown wood suitable for building instruments. I'd also be interested to see if anyone uses suppliers outside of the UK. For example getting wood shipped in direct from the US or Canada. There doesn't seem to be any mention of wood in the Suppliers sticky so I thought I would give this ago. To start the process off, I recommend: David Dyke http://www.luthierssupplies.co.uk/ I use David pretty much exclusively at the moment. I've found him to be very reliable to deal with over the phone and sends out wood that is carefully packaged and graded. I also visited once to look though his stock personally, and he's an absolute gent. The only disadvantage is that his website doesn't show pictures of individual pieces of wood, so for exotic drop tops it's best to visit. Located in East Sussex.

  10. Mmmm...Sadowsky. Or maybe more realistically has anyone tried the Ampeg Portaflex 350?
  11. I'm instinctively drawn to the Aguilar TH350, but the MB200 is cheap and cheerful. Has anyone played both? Care to comment on tone?
  12. Hi All I've got a One10 (hopefully) incoming fairly shortly. Can you recommend a small head to go with it? Nothing over the top, I'm only ever going to be doing small venues and most of the time won't be competing with a drummer. I play a precision with flats and like a warm, full sound. Fretted and fretless. I don't slap, tap or do any of that clever stuff. It must have an aux in, and a headphone socket. I don't particularly like fiddling with with knobs. As it were. Though if it had a simple compressor that might be good. Lightweight would be good. I'd almost certainly be buying second hand. Any suggestions would be great.
  13. Does anyone know of a small carpenter's workshop I may be able to rent to build guitars? Either a dedicated or shared workshop. In Nottingham or surrounding area. Long shot I know, but worth a try.....
  14. Hi, I'm interested. Can you give a few more details about the dings etc, and photograph anything that is photograph able. I realise it's a 20 year old bass so won't be perfect. Also, I take it you and the bass are in Germany? Would the bass be couriered fully insured? Also do you have a basschat feedback page? Thanks, looks like a great bass.
  15. I'm now out of the country till mid January. I probably won't have much internet access in the meantime. I've got a couple of people coming to see the bass then, so PM me if you want to have a look as well, or if you want to jump the queue and buy it!
