1. I totally get the point that a new board is a risk, as there's no guarantee it'll sound as good as it did before: my reason for suggesting it was that the minute you do anything that changes the original neck you are devaluing the bass, so it may as well be an option.
2. Bass is in transit, but Xaver has just posted another picture on his Facebook page that I'll use to keep me going until it arrives The pale strips in the neck are walnut, which goes to show how dark the thermo ash used for the rest of it is.
3.
That is a lovely job. What did it cost (was that the £200 you mentioned in your earlier reply?)
I think it was £220 all in IIRC.
4. If you decide to go for a new board I would recommend Brook Guitars down in Devon. They did a superb job on this P bass I used to own.
5. I sold some cables to Cameron. The deal was as smooth as could be and he was a pleasure to deal with. Totally agree with the above comments
6. Unless it is proper vintage or valuable, I'd just have a nice unlined board fitted. Eliminating the lines and moving the dots on the existing board will devalue it anyway, so why not just have what your want?
7. A pleasure to meet Andy tonight to sell him a gig bag. Excellent comms, and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again
8. The body has a subtle curve, if that's what you mean?
9. Close up of the chestnut cavity cover.
10. Back's nice too! The chestnut cavity cover was a nice surprise
11. Electrics installed tomorrow, shipping on Monday...
12. Up for sale is a used but fully functioning Bass Soul Food pedal by Electro Harmonix. Good but used condition, comes with original box and velcro fitted to the base of the unit. Website blurb here. This video shows you what it can do quite well Firm on £45 posted. Thanks for looking.
13. I've said it many time, but this time I mean it
14. Katy Perry's "Firework" rocked up is a lot of fun
15. Just put together a very nice Metro 16 board As I play upright and electric at every gig, I use a fabulous Providence Dual Bass Station as my go to eq/switching/volume balancing unit for some time, also running a tuner in the dedicated output. I've wanted to add some OD and chorus to the electric input and some compression to the DB for some time, so having shopped around I picked up a few second hand pedals and voila, a new board is born! That said, having done some more research, I've decided to replace the compressor with a 4114 HPF, which should deal with DB feedback better. As the Dual Bass Station runs on 12V DC and all the other pedals are 9V DC, I decided to go with a single power supply to neaten everything up, and following advice from the BC massive I chose the Cioks Adam, which fits the bill perfectly. No hum at all, and I've drilled the PT and mounted it using the supplied bolts. I've used heavy duty velcro rather than the PT stuff to stick everything down, and cables are the rather excellent Evidence Audio Monorail: I've had George L's before but I have to say these are a step above. Anyway, here are the pics!
16.
"the gives need replacing" - do you mean "Fives"? Is this a valve amp?
Valve pre, solid state power. Great amps. I had one many moons ago....
17. Effectively new and unused, certainly never been out of the house. Only selling as surplus to requirements. Gator blurb here. Actual bag shown below. Very nicely padded inside. Neck brace for angled headstocks and a nice thick bumper cushion at the bottom. Shoulder straps are removable (note the rain cover holder at the top) Space for a laptop, straps, leads etc... It even has its own rain cover! Best new price I've seen is £105 posted, so this is up for £75 posted in the UK, add another £15 for EU. Thanks for looking.
