1. Awesome basses. If you want that lovely fretlessacousticupright tone these nail it. I had one and only sold it to get my Veillette.
 2.
Gareth..... I'll honour your first dibs but if you dont have it I will, and I'll get my Nephew to pick it up for me.... Bob.
Hey Bob, how's the PRS? Looks like it's been sold
 3. I have to say the pictures really don't do it justice. It's absolutely stunning in person, and the "smokeburst" really works against the koa.
 4. Obviously made in Asia for that price. I like the look of the Prince II though; I'd be quite happy playing Faces covers all day on that.
 5. Take it to Joe White in Ash Vale, he'll sort you out.
 6.
Mine is a fretless 4 with ebony neck and bridge, spruce top, and koa back and sides, all made to look a bit mysterious and moody by a transparent smoke tint.
Looks like the folks at Veillette have beaten you to it Phil!
 7. Would this take one bass with a straight headstock and one with an angled one?

 9.
you could always buy this and return the doubler!!!!
I coul, but the Doubler is actually the better choice for me as the feature set is more suited to acoustic instruments, of which I have a majority.
 10. I'd have it as a back up if I had the spare moolah.

 13. I just bought a Doubler after missing out on this! Bugger Best of luck with the sale.
 14.
Phil, you mean you have one of these ? http://www.flickr.com/photos/bassplayermag...in/photostream/
Yes those are the ones. I played Phil's when I picked up the Archtop, and it was truly lovely.
 15.
After bass I went on to mandolin. Small but it does chuck the sound out a bit. Not louder than an acoustic guitar though. And the 8 strings are strung like an upside down 8 string bass (or a violin!) so it comes a bit easier than uke which is strung like a madman!
Similar experience for me. I went for a tenor guitar but then settled on bouzouki and octave mandolins as the neck width is about the same as a four string bass, the scale length is also longer, and you can get going very quickly making some very pleasant noises in the process. Only thing to remember is they're tuned in fifths not fourths, so playing single note lines is quite different. Overall though, anything from the mandolin family is a great second choice of instrument!

 17.
Just curious: you have a Doubler already, so why get a Micro too?
Sorry for the misunderstanding. My sig should actually read Doubler on the way; I'll have it next week. I'm not getting a Micro as well.
 18.
Verrrry nice. Just about perfect looks for me and 19mm spacing too. The only thing I could think of that might make it even more perfect would be a 2nd mag pickup. We must arrange that A/B session with my RA Deep 5 some time when the weather is a bit less of a pain. Andy
Thanks Andy. Yes, an AB session would be good as I've always loved Rob's basses. Drop me a PM when the snow clears?
 19. I'm a numpty about such things; is this footswitch dual momentary?
 20. I have one on order and should have it by the end of next week. I'm hoping it will be the perfect matchup for my EA cabs and allow me to ditch my very good, but butt ugly, Markbass LMK.
 21.
Wider than a Wal, my guess is 18mm.
Measured it last night and it's 19mm.
 22. How would you describe the tone of the newer unit? By that I mean is it comparable to anything other make? I've heard these heads are a bit more "grunty" than the usual EA clean sound. Also, any concerns over volume output? Does the 550 have a decent kick? Cheers G
 23.
What's the string spacing?
Wider than a Wal, my guess is 18mm.
Sorry the word "best" interpreted therefore as better smile.gif came from your quote above.
Not to worry, my wording may have been less than imprecise in the first place. Cheers Gareth
