1. Got love for this thread. Architects are the best new band in ages. Converge just never fail to be brilliant.
2. I've had this a couple of years, it has NEVER been gigged and it has been used for about 10 2 hour practices, so not much at all. Everything works fine, it's a great sounding amp and cosmetically, apart from a couple of tiny scuffs on the metal corner caps, it's looking good too. I'm looking for £220 ono, cash on collection... I would deliver for cost if within a reasonable distance (East Midlands). PM me if you want to discuss things further!

Howdy!

I think I saw Buzzkill a long, long time ago. Might even have some kind of demo cd somewhere!
4. Thrice have some good ones. They mess around with times a lot. Examples: 'Trust' is 5/4 (I think) verses with a 6/8 chorus. Cold Cash And Colder Hearts has a 5/4 breakdown/outro Silhouette is 6/8 (really awesome drum beat with the hi hat or cymbals doing every beat and the kick drum playing an off beat rhythm) and then has 4/4 and 7/8 parts. I think the Melting Point of Wax and Abolition Of Man have changing time sigs too. A Subtle Dagger has something in 5 too I think I could go on, they have loads.
5. I too need a good distortion pedal as the ODB3 is a bit pants. Those MetalDrive clips are a a tad muffly aren't they? Maybe it's just the recording, the pedal sounds like it has potential.
6. Top amp, crushing rock sounds! I have one which I'm selling to the guitarist in my band for £400. I picked up a Mesa Dual instead Wallet wasn't happy mind.
7. Tempted to up my budget and get a Sterling or a Schecter. Too many bloody choices
8. Just keep at it would be my advice! My new band... we've been practicing a few times a month since about June and we're just putting the finishing touches to our 5 song set One of our songs is about 3 minutes long and I counted 18 different riffs/parts in it... it took me a while to learn all that and I pick things up pretty quickly. Lord knows how many times we've had to stop songs half way through, play from halfway through, play specific bits, talk through bits that need changing etc etc We can see the light at the end of the tunnel though... it'll all be worthwhile in the end!
9. Cool, thanks for that. I'm not in a hurry to get a new bass, so I'll keep my eye out for those whilst I'm hunting!
10. That looks very nice and sounds excellent... almost the perfect amount of punch I'm looking for. Shame the dealer is a couple of hours away! I hadn't heard of Lakland before, so you've now added to my dilemna!
11. Love his sound and bass lines.
12. I've got an older Shure one, always worked fine. BUT, there's so little room on most of the stages I ever played on, I never really needed it and it wasn't worth setting it up when it takes seconds to plug a cable in.
13.
Is that like me choosing the colour of a new Ford Fiesta. Wow - a boutique custom Ford Fiesta! What happens if I add a cheesy faux wooden dash?
You'll feel like you're driving a 90s Rover.
14. So I know there's a lot of very knowledgable people on here and with me being fairly new to bass playing in a serious way, I was hoping for some help. I have a few requirements... - Not too heavy. At the moment I play a Peavey Jazz bass and it's a bit too cumbersome for my liking. - Maple neck/frets - Low strings needs to be easily accessible around the 12-14 frets, not cramped like on a Fender J/P bass (I have big, clumsy hands) - Want a sound Fender Jazz/Stringray kind of sound. Am I asking for too much here? As I said, I'm new to this game, tell me if I'm being unreasonable! My price range is quite flexible but I'd like to spend less than £600 if possible.
15. Pretty good man! I've heard many, many worser singers over the years, that's for sure. Your voice has a nice tone to it too, which is always handy. Bass playing wise, you'd need to do alt strokes rather than all down strokes. It is making you go slightly out of time on the faster parts. But you pretty much nailed it! I certainly wish I could sing without sounding like a mong.
16. I've been looking at getting a Jazz... tried some out in a shop the other week, the Mexican one played way better than the US one to me! Though it didn't feel as well built if you get what I mean. Strange that.
17. I got jumped by 2 chavs loading gear into my van. Another one randomly punched our sax player, who was just standing on the pavement doing nothing, in the nose. It was the most ridiculous, random thing. Luckily, the bouncers from the club we'd just played ran down the road pretty quickly and the chavs fled. I was fuming though and wanted to f*** them up, even though I'd never been in a fight ever before and wouldn't, probably couldn't, hurt a fly. Cops came about 10 minutes later, which wasn't very useful.
18. I use these in my band's songs... F|--------------7------ C|--7----------6---- G|--5----9----5----- C|--0----9---------- Pretty simple but effective in our music. The one on the 9th fret are very short, sharp stabs where I do upstrokes and it sounds pretty cool and offsets against the guitar's downstrokes really well. I must say, I've come over to bass from playing guitar, so playing chords comes naturally. Some interesting new stuff and patterns in this thread that I will be trying out though.
19. Ah, that's the shop I was looking for! Haha. Thanks man, I'll be checking it out soon.

Hola

Just thought I'd say a quick "hey!" Actually came here to post a link to a bass I'm selling but had a look around and this seems like a pretty awesome forum! Lots of interesting info and knowledge, so I think I'll stick around. Btw, am from East Midlands and I'm currently playing in a tech hardcore/metal band. Quite unlike the typical stuff that immediately springs to your minds though, I hope. We're still writing our set (nearly done), so hope to be gigging/recording soon, yay!
21. Is the G&D centre the one at the bottom of Hockley? Where sound control was? I think that's the same place as I got my Stingray and Ashdown rig from. Or maybe I'm confusing it with somewhere else. I'm not as familiar with Nottm as I should be. Fuzz is a good shop, went in there not long ago, very reasonable prices, some top equipment in there.
22. Hope I've posted this correctly! ebay link here! Sold to some nice chap who can play it a lot better than me!
